Rutgers Wrestling headed to the 2026 National Duals Invitational
Rutgers Wrestling has been invited to the National Duals Invitational, competing for a purse of $1.2 million dollars.
Some schools that qualified ahead us(including the Ivies) have exams at that time and opted out. It’s a great opportunity for us.Any insiders know how this process played out and we got selected?
Other schools backed out and we got in.Any insiders know how this process played out and we got selected?
Ok.... So what? They ranked based on Nationals.... If they ranked based on duals...(which these are) we're easily in....Other schools backed out and we got in.
They were also a top dual meet team this year.Rutgers was picked over others. Imagine it has to do with brand
They did the right thing actually considering the duals aspect too..They were also a top dual meet team this year.
The criteria was for NCAA finish again and Rutgers had 7 points and tied with George Mason and Utah ValleyThey were also a top dual meet team this year.
Correct, which is why I’m shocked RU got an invite.. sometimes just hard criteria is not enough and a little human judgement is needed. Get some team failed to show but really stunned they really decided to invite RU.The criteria was for NCAA finish again and Rutgers had 7 points and tied with George Mason and Utah Valley
Is it true Nebraska and Iowa are out this year? Is that what opened for door for Rutgers ?The criteria was for NCAA finish again and Rutgers had 7 points and tied with George Mason and Utah Valley
For the most part, aside from losing to Oklahoma and Princeton. Like, what was that. They were also a top dual meet team this year.

No problem! You gave me an opportunity to use that GIF which I loveMy God that was a brain fart. Sorry!
Last year they seeded top 4 and then random draws from there..Is the field ranked or random draws?
Would hate to face Ok St in first round.
Would be a very nice early season matchup between Endene and P’Nut..I want LITTLE ROCK!!!!1 time to make them little pebbles
It sounds like you think 285 will be RU’s third best weight preseason. The answer depends on how good the Harers are and what we’re doing at 141 and 174.
We will be elite at 125 and we’re solid at 133, 165, and 184. We should be very good at 197 and 285. If the Harers are both quality guys then we’re gonna be a tough out. 174 should be alright if Ford fills out his frame. 141 probably our weak spot.
On paper I think it is though a case can be made for SCW. I don’t expect little Harer to do much out of the gate. Hoping Connor jumped a level in redshirt. Wouldn’t be surprised in Connor is in the mix to be our 3rd/4th best guy but it’ll be 18 months since his last true match once our season gets started. It sounds like you think 285 will be RU’s third best weight preseason.
Yeah I was going to ask why you think RU is stronger at 285 over 184, 165, and 133… I guess your logic is Herrera was a freshman NQ but so were SCW, Barbosa, and Ungar.. w Ungar being a R12 as a freshman. Barbosa beat the #2 Blaze but he had a bad nationals 0-2(same as Herrera). I think all 4 weight are relatively similar but dunno why u think Herrera has more upside/better then Barbosa when he proved he can beat #2 guy.On paper I think it is though a case can be made for SCW. The only thing I can think of is the competition at HWT is not as deep as 133, 165 and or 184.Yeah I was going to ask why you think RU is stronger at 285 over 184, 165, and 133… I guess your logic is Herrera was a freshman NQ but so were SCW, Barbosa, and Ungar.. w Ungar being a R12 as a freshman. I hope you are wrong about little Harer not expecting much out of the gate.. if that’s true it will be a bad sign..
Huge percentage of the top 285 guys graduate. Going to be a lot of change, and we’ve done well with the upper weights. Herrera might not be our 3rd best guy but probably has the 3rd highest upside. I think Ungar, Barbosa, even SCW are R12-R16 guys at best.Yeah I was going to ask why you think RU is stronger at 285 over 184, 165, and 133… I guess your logic is Herrera was a freshman NQ but so were SCW, Barbosa, and Ungar.. w Ungar being a R12 as a freshman. They had matches today in the room was anyone in room to tell us how they went.On paper I think it is though a case can be made for SCW. I don’t expect little Harer to do much out of the gate.
