Yeah, it’s beyond meaningless. i get what they are trying to do but it doesn’t work. Rutgers gets negatively penalized in the rank/score for Baye Fall and Badalau. Does that make any real sense? Those guys leaving should add to Rutgers score, lol.
The ranking system is so screwed up Baye Fall is CURRENTLY the 208th ranked player in the portal according to Evan Maya rankings

Not 208th player from Africa… 208th overall

my faith in any portal rankings is gone

That includes the ranking system for high school players as well. Generally, it’s pretty close, and I realize a lot is based on potential. However, Fall was a 5 star recruit. Three years later, and it still looks like he never played before.

Fall and Badalau both a couple of zero stars. Ratings for Transfer Portal Rankings should be based off of how good a player has been at college level, or in the case of a freshman transferring who has not played much, a mix of high school ranking and what they have shown in college. Fall has not played much at college level because he’s so bad he can’t be put on the court, and on the rare occasions when he does see the floor, he shows nothing. He should have a portal ranking with no stars, not sure if there are adjusted portal rankings out there that are based only off quality of play in college. Duarte a 4 star??? Once again, I guess it’s based off some old ranking before college level. The usefulness of these transfer rankings is highly suspect.

In fairness to Duarte (and I still find the timing of the pick up bizarre), his situation is different from Fall’s. It’s not like he failed to produce in the NCAA. He failed to qualify academically. Two very different things.

Certainly Duarte is no 4 star, but having real stats (even pedestrian ones) for several years in a DR pro league is better than doing absolutely nothing on 3 different NCAA teams. Fall didn’t even put up stats in garbage time of early cupcake games.

There is no where near enough film on him to label him definitely not a 4*.

He was a NMS signee. I think one source had him as a 4 star. He didn’t have crazy amazing stats in the DR league and there are known American players who’ve played with him that provide some basis. Point being he’s not a 4 star transfer who could realistically project to start. By no stretch of the imagination. Best case realistically will be he defends like a poor man’s Caleb, and earns time that way. But the point is, its nothing like Fall who didn’t see the floor for 2 seasons on NCAA teams before coming here.
