Coastal Carolina baseball is defined by relentless "small ball," extreme grit, and high-pressure base running.
  • Patience at the plate: Maximizing pitch counts to force opposing starters out of the game early.
  • Manufacturing runs: Prioritizing sacrifice bunts, advanced situational hitting, and putting the ball in play.
  • Hit-by-Pitch dominance: The Chanticleers are famous for aggressively crowding the plate, frequently leading the nation in hit-by-pitches.
  • Stealing bases: Taking extra bases aggressively to put runners in scoring position.
  • Taking the extra base: Forcing the defense to make perfect throws on routine singles and fly balls.
  • Aggressive pitching routines: Pitchers are trained to challenge hitters directly while leveraging strong bullpen depth and midseason stoppers.
  • Consistent defensive fundamental play: A strong emphasis on elite infield execution, double plays, and dynamic outfield coverage.

Forget that, it sounds way too tiring.

I'd rather have a team that is frequently held hitless, shut out and run-ruled; that way I can nap for 6 or 7 innings and not worry about having missed anything when I wake up.

Whitey Herzog was famous for small ball with the St. Louis Cardinals in the early '80s. If you can create a roster of fast players who have good on base percentages, it works well.

Chicks dig the long ball, but speed never goes in a slump.

I dunno, other than the HBP angle, it sounds a little like our championship teams.
