How can we ensure we get into the super league?

The SEC and the Big 10 do not own the product. The networks who pay the TV money to those schools own the product. This is no different than any other pro sports league. If TNT or ESPN looked at the NBA and said if you’re not gonna have ___ playoff, we’re not going to agree to the next media rights deal to televise the games. The NBA would do what they asked in two seconds.

ESPN and Fox hold all the power here. If they want a super league, that’s what’s gonna happen. I don’t even think the commissioner of the SEC or Big 10 want it. But they would have to agree to it.

If ESPN said we want a 64 team playoff and all the teams have to wear pink, they’d do it. That’s just how this works
***** typically do what the one paying asks.

Our problem is that for an example, an Ohio State’s president is going to be sitting there in negotiations saying look we shouldn’t have to subsidize Purdue and Rutgers football programs, we should not have to share the TV money with them. Georgia, TX, AL, LSU would say the same thing about us or Kentucky.
Then they can form a 32 team Super League. And when 11-12 of them have losing seasons and 2-3 teams turn into the Jets/Browns/Jags, they can count their billions as their fans are miserable.

THIS. This is what all those executives don’t understand about the super league. Good luck telling Alabama and Ohio State fans that going 9-3, 8-4 (which is like going 12-5 or 11-6 in the NFL) and making the playoffs is a great year.

I hate the idea of a super league. I wouldn’t like the format of it even if we were 100% in and playing in it. I’m not in any way advocating for it.
