***** typically do what the one paying asks.The SEC and the Big 10 do not own the product. The networks who pay the TV money to those schools own the product. This is no different than any other pro sports league. If TNT or ESPN looked at the NBA and said if you’re not gonna have ___ playoff, we’re not going to agree to the next media rights deal to televise the games. The NBA would do what they asked in two seconds.
ESPN and Fox hold all the power here. If they want a super league, that’s what’s gonna happen. I don’t even think the commissioner of the SEC or Big 10 want it. But they would have to agree to it.
If ESPN said we want a 64 team playoff and all the teams have to wear pink, they’d do it. That’s just how this works
