Still not a high confidence forecast as there looks to be a limited window of when all of the ingredients needed for severe weather will be in place at the same time, but the threat is there. Forecast soundings support supercell cell structures being possible for parallel forcing may overcome that and we end up with a more linear storm mode. Timing looking to be your typical late afternoon into the overnight hours.

In the shameless plug section of the post I'd like to mention our Weather Call NexGen service for $15/yr. It sends text and call alerts to your phone when a watch or warning has been issued for your area. We've also added two new Skycams in the past two weeks...one in Pittsboro and one in Booneville. We've also formalized a partnership with MaxxSouth to be able to use their towers for cameras which will further increase our coverage across north and central MS when funding allows. So again, if you'd like to donate to our camera network or become a business sponsor of a camera, email us at [email protected] or visit our website at www.nmscas.org.

They've upgraded parts of central MS to a tornado driven enhanced risk. However, it wouldn't surprise me if the next update they shift that south. Last several runs of the HRRR have shown a distinct southern shift putting the greatest tornado threat between Highway 84 and Hattiesburg. If we keep a solid cloud deck that could also limit maximum storm potential. But depending on where things end up forming, a few tornadoes are likely and one or two could be strong. Timing this afternoon into the overnight hours.
