I was not a fan of Will Rogers but I won’t even slight him that bad. Besides one good start at Ole Miss, Foster has to be one of the most overhyped baseball prospects. Dude hasn’t done much of anything at State and given plenty of opportunity. He must be great in practice because two staffs have believed in him. I think the best thing is for him to hit the portal. Mainly because I think our staff will continue to believe in him and that the stage will always be too big here for him. Sorry, rant over..

It may be time to conclude his 2026 stint as a starting pitcher. The results simply aren’t there. His command has been consistently poor, and he doesn’t appear to have confidence in his repertoire.

That said, the current situation is largely circumstantial. He’s only in the rotation because Mac is injured. Under normal circumstances, he’d likely be utilized out of the bullpen, and even then, probably in a lower-leverage role rather than as a primary late-inning option.

That may be the coaches’ stated position, but I’m not entirely convinced.

It strikes me more as an effort to keep his morale high and maintain his motivation.

If he were truly dealing with an injury, it raises a logical concern: why continue to pitch him at all, especially when his performance suggests he may not be fully fit?

Keeping the comparisons to baseball, I just think he’s this era’s Cerantola or Evan Mitchell.

Is Bauer ready to be that once through the lineup kind of starter that gets us through the first 2 or 3 innings so we can turn it over to our bullpen on Sunday? Our current rotation isn't going to get us far in the post season, unfortunately. If we still had McPherson on Friday nights, we would be hard to beat, but injuries happen. Have to figure out something better for Sundays.
