you can't take one in that area with 2 strikes. you'd take it all day with less than 2 strikes

It was. But… what is the rule of thumb on 0-2 count with anything close? He had just fouled off a pitch 6 inches off the outside of the plate the pitch before that. So was Ace protecting the plate on the outside pitch but NOT protecting the plate in the inside close pitch? I want our guys to make contact with the bases loaded. Not go up there guessing for the pitch they can hit out and taking one leaving it up to a crappy umpire.

We just need to be a little bit better. McPHerson coming back healthy and sharp would be an obvious thing that could happen. But we have some pitchers with potential that could figure it out this late. Also going to need to get a little hot at the plate regardless.
