What kind of "I know you are but what am I" response is that?

It's one of the (many) downsides to playing in the B1G. Which is what this thread is about.

I mean, if it makes you feel better to tout some ancient history with a couple teams, then fine. I'm simply stating the fact that we had a lot more recent history (in most of our lifetimes) with a lot of other teams not in the B1G. Hence the manufactured fake iowa "rivalry"

Just facts buddy.
The facts don’t support your short historical perspective. The Big 12as we knew it is gone. Get over it.

You're the one lacking the reading comprehension, my friend. Other than the one guy complaining about the drive (valid complaint), not a single thing you've posted has been said in this thread.
So you’re telling me the post below isn’t insinuating that you’d rather be in a different conference because we’re, in your own words, “getting bent over” by a bunch of somebodies? Sorry but any person with any kind of common sense would make that leap.

So, you would rather get consistently bent over by a bunch of "somebodies" (who we have no history with) and watch the people responsible line their pockets? Weird.
Then what about this gym of a post? Talking about trading one set of problems for more problems? Your whole tone, and all of your context within the whole thread has talked about the BIG10 not bringing you joy as a football fan, and what’s the direct correlation of the move to the BIG 10 with football? I’ll give you a hint, it has to do with winning a lot less.

you can’t use the history argument because before the Texas teams came to the Big 12 there was no history there either, History is something that can be built, however it will never be built while the administration is a joke.

Bad memories are very clear. Time hasn't wiped it away at all for me. Problem is, we just traded one set of problems for another and gained a whole lot more, as far as I'm concerned, as a football fan.

But, hey...money money money for all the people responsible, right?

Plus cheering on all our opponenets gives @HBK4life_rivals100467 a reason to get out of bed in the morning. So, I'm happy for him.
I will concede a little on the funding support you’ve mentioned in your other response. It doesn’t make sense to keep shelling out money if the administration isn’t using to to better the program. The only argument I’d have with not spending money is the old saying “it takes money to win money” that fits well in this situation as well… look at the top spenders in football, those will be the ones you see in the CFP.

You're reading tone and filling in context that just aren't there. Sorry.

My, and a lot of people's, disdain for the B1G has zero to do with it's competitiveness. I fully admit that we'd be "getting bent over" in the current Big 12 and SEC as well. For all our own administrative issues you mentioned, which we agree on.

I'd just rather be getting bent over in games against opponents I care more about (due to our history) or in places that I like better, or whatever else on the list of multiple things I like better about the Big 12 and SEC. Hence me noting the B1G has "more problems"

And yes, you're right, history can be built. Doesn't mean I have to like it. I'm getting too old to have the patience for that kind of crap. Now, get off my lawn 😆

My disdain goes back to bringing the Texass schools in to the Big 8. The Big was the perfect setup. 8 teams and everybody played each other. All within a fairly easy drive. Times change. Once we got in to bed with UT and ATM it was just a matter of time until we got screwed. TO led the charge to the B1G because the writing was on the wall. If we were gonna get screwed by someone we didn’t like we might as well get paid.

And after they destroyed the Big 8 they were the first ones flirting with the Pac 10 that prompted Nebraska and other schools to look for a new home. They are toxic. **** Texass.

Well, first of all, it was just UT. I wouldn't put A&M in that group. They were always everyone's whipping boys.

As for the rest, I see what you're saying. But, for me and apparently a lot of other fans...

disdain for all things B1G >>>> disdain for Texass

Am I really seeing people complain about being in the BIG 10 because we have to play a more difficult football schedule?

if this is the case I feel like a lot of you need to drop the skirt and pull up your big boy pants… the problem isn’t the conference, it’s the whining about having to play too good of teams… we want to stop playing too hard of a schedule? Then go the the MAC, or maybe just get better so we’re the difficult team on their schedules.

this is a sad sad day to come on here and see a debate like this going on.
outside of getting your fellow boomers all excited about "muh fullback trap" and "vince ferragamo would've played ohio state 11 times a year if he could" what does this even mean?

your and my attitude has zero influence on the outcome of the games, which has been objectively bad, at best mediocre, for the majority of 2 decades.

it's the fans like you that have this really misplaced sense of what you have done for the university that makes you so insufferable. we have been minnesota, wisconsin, and iowa's punching bag ever since joining the conference, 3 teams that are the epitome of "middle of the road" programs. do you know stupid you appear when you posture like we aren't completely outmatched by the top half of the conference?

I remember sitting with my father and watched the 1964 come from behind win against Minnesota 21-16.

The year before Devaney had Nebraska wear red pants for the first time on the road in Minneapolis, that is how the tradition of wearing red pants for away games started. So I remember all those games against the Gopher including a family reunion in Minneapolis in 1983.

Devaney was 8-0 against the Gophers.

I tend to disagree with this statement. Plus I don’t say the BIG 10 made teams better… but I will say it definitely doesn’t make teams worse… If that was the case how did Indiana win a National Championship? Weren’t they typically a bottom dweller in the BIG 10?
a little bit of luck, and serious adults that want to win above all else calling the shots.

if we had hired a coach that immediately went on to say "purdue sucks, but so does michigan and ohio state", the majority of this fanbase would've cried non-stop about "b-b-but he's not nebraska nice!" and unfortunately, that attitude likely exists in the university administration too, which is why we settled for a low-ceiling, non-controversial hire like Rhule.

This is true. A lot of Husker fans can't handle how coaches "really" talk. They need the coach to want to French Kiss them. They need to coach to be the "awww-shucks" type of coach.

A good majority of this board would shitt themselves if they sat in on a practice at Jenks High School where I cut my teeth.

I played for plenty of other schools in different states, and there is a clear cut difference between coaches who want to be good, and coaches who demand to be excellent.

So you have to curse and demean players to be a great coach? Mmmm. Maybe not. To each his own. I had a tremendous high school football coach. Not once did I hear him curse. He didn’t have to. He had been fired at his previous school for decking a kid who smarted off to him and we all knew it. All he had to do was give you the look. Great guy. Great coach.

No, you don't have to since that's not what I said.

Coaches who demand excellence are able to will players to their highest potential by bringing them right up against their breaking point, not giving sugary speeches that mean dick

Have that won/ loss all time record yet? since you’ve been this so called Nebraska fan, or are you having difficulty doing the math?

I’ll be waiting for the answer while you try and do math.

I’m not really sure what you’re getting at here… 1st and foremost I’ve never mentioned a single thing about what “I’ve” done, which adds to exactly nothing. 2nd I also never mentioned anything about neither being outmatched or on even footing… 3rd I haven’t postured about anything.

Mr. Suffocation, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having read this. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Claiming to be too stupid to understand your own post is a hilarious defense.

You kiss your wife's boyfriend on his way out this morning?

I mean...just say "you must be married" that is a big enough dig on a guy.

If I was married and found out my wife was cheating, I would be ******* thrilled.
