I wish we had a coach that lost on a fluke play in the elite eight. I would call getting beat on a fluke play in an elite eight game this year for us would be an ultra successful year. Actually that close to a final four would be a great year for any school every year. Once a team gets to elite eight so much pure luck is involvd to win it all. It has been 11 years since we have shifted a final four. Some because of coaching, some on seeding and match ups , and like we did with Cal, just piss poor game by taking a team too lightly and getting upset. Pope will not get us to a final four if he had a 20 year contract. Scheyer even though you think he choked would probably get Duke to atleast 3 to 4 final fours in the next 20 years yet we want to bad mouth him because he is out performing us. Our goal should be to try and out do him, not trash him. Trashing another coach does not do us or our basketball team one damn bit of good.

I’ll trash the Duke coach all day long bro and if you have a problem with it you can pound sand. I didn’t find it a success when we blew it in the elite eight in 2019 or against MSU in 2005 and sure would’ve been pissed if we lost to a lower ranked less talented team being up almost 20 at halftime. You can call it a fluke play but it was a choke job even getting to that point. I’ll continues trashing Duke every chance I got, 10 straight number 1 recruiting classes, zero championships. Suck on that Dukie.

That was the first big game of the season, fast forward 3 months and Duke was a 1 seed and went to the final four, with ease.
Scheyer might under deliver based on overall talent but boy can he recruit. They always have a tremendous roster. I'd take that problem in heartbeat.
I am glad you feel so strongly about your Duke hate. I sill stand that bashing a Duke coach is so childish. I could care less if they win another game but I sure as hell would trade Pope for their "choke job coach" in a heart beat. I was not bragging on Duke, just stating that when a more talented team loses, it is just the nature of the game. Ask Cal the two times we got beat on day one of NCAA Tournament. If you go back as ask Pitino when he lost to a less talented team or if possible if we could ask Rupp. I would assure you that does not make them a "choke job." I bet if we could replace Pope with Duke's coach and have the same success that he has had at Duke, you would be the happiest Kentucky fan in the Commonwealth.
There is no way we could match money of Duke (as well as several other schools) if they so chose.

It might be depth but it's not talented depth. Not enough to compete on a nightly basis with what the top teams in the Country have coming back.
We’ve had plenty of benches better than starting 5s…and most of those teams lost to teams full of Trent Noah’s, Travis Perrys, and Collin Chandlers…

here is my problem with our current rosters as of now. In year one Pope had a highly experienced roster that could play his kind of basketball: zoom offense, generated by bigs with many 3s taking some in transition. We were told injuries derailed that season. I think was injuries but also lack of coaching.
Year 2 MP tried to get superstars that he was lucking , he could not. Instead he built a roster that could not play his offense and he was never able to adjust his coaching style.
Year 3 MP failed so far a recruiting both of HS players and also from portal. this team doesn have shooters annd big to generate zoom offense and no good defenders and no stars. MP still has time and money to remedy the situation but ….lets see what happens.

Duke I think lost 7 games the last two seasons... total! By a total of 22 pts.
UK lost at least 6-7 games by double digits this past season alone.
There is no comparison between who they are and who we are. Galaxies apart right now.
