This is why freshmen like Addie who get a bag are often getting a boot when the dollars don't match the production. It's unfortunate because a lot of highly rated freshmen still need time to develop, but the financials don't add up. Teams are learning that you can get a proven player who's already playing at a higher level for close to the same investment.Everyone is a 1 year rental now......anything more than that is a bonus......
I am with you, @fish1hawk. The crowd around me adopted Kali Peschel grow and develop into a sometimes starter. I worry that we have lost the chance to follow a player's development. Each April, I start playing the Next Year game: If each player works on this aspect over the summer, the whole team will be markedly better. Layla is a great example of someone who has a great future as the game slows down, if she adds a 15 footer and free throws, and maybe a reliable 15' jump shot. But the Portal says that if she improves, she moves.Agree totally. As a 20 year season ticket holder. Part of the joy was watching these kids develop. So many players emerged after their freshman years which almost allows had flashes of the future and the reality of freshman experience At this level. It’s a new game

I liken it to still photography. If there was a photographer who really zoomed in on the pedal of a flower, and there was a bumblebee on it. You're you're seeing that and the rest of the people are saying, "Look at this beautiful flower garden," and all I am seeing is that one picture, and the petal was kind of pretty, and the bee was intriguing, but it was hard to see the full beauty, and then when I zoomed out, man, the season is much more than that zoomed in ending."
