I was once a college student. I graduated from UIowa in just five... wait for it... Presidential administrations, starting with Johnson and ending with Reagan. No one stuck a microphone in my face as a college student and asked me about blah blah blah. I am so impressed by how well these 18-24-year-olds handle themselves in interviews. I realize that they are getting NIL money and they are technically adults, but when I was their age, I had mush for brains and made bad decisions. Give 'em a break, already.

It seems like you are talking about young athletes. And many of those star athletes are getting interviewed more often in high school as that becomes a bigger part of the local sports scene. I was pretty well spoken in high school and actually representing my school as a 9th grader with local city planners and student council. But I usually wasnt asked to give my opinion on my own sports play etc which can be harder to do.

I watched yesterday's interviews and Hannah still struggles in an interview setting. Was giggling and looking away. Ava on the other hand gave quick, thoughtful answers.

Many of the younger generation really struggle carrying on a conversation. Too much time texting and looking at a computer.

Many Boomers struggle with following the topic of a conversation and making relevant contributions to it. Too many drugs in the 60's and 70's.

Well many boomers, almost all boomers, are pretty old.

How old are you? When you are 60, 70, 80 the brain isnt as sharp for most, hearing might be off, maybe more easily distracted

Many young people today ( not all ) are simply used to being in the spotlight. It doesn't necessarily mean speaking in public. But kids today perform at a very early age.

I've watched my granddaughters perform gymnastics and dance in front of hundreds of people at ages 6 and 7. And in gymnastics for example they are judged and scored. I realize this isn't unusual today, but it's certainly wasn't the norm 30 or 40 years ago.

And kids today have had their picture taken or appeared in family videos thousands of times. In the old days even a photograph was expensive and not many people had a video camera.

All this exposure allows kids to be more relaxed and comfortable in front of a camera or in front of an audience.
