Here’s my perspective:
1. It was a bad day. Lots of bad bounces went our way (Hull and Schaffner plays stand out) and lots of good bounces went their way. It happens — and on a positive note, it hasn’t happened much to this team
2. I think the old ball coach was using this as a test for some of the streaky / underachieving arms in the pen. It’s the kind of team we’ll see in the playoffs, but it’s not a conference game (mitigates downside). And unfortunately for us, they all struggled. I don’t think you will see that lineup of pitchers in a game that really counts (and even less so after their performances). I think the real concern is now the depth of the pen and Forbes has his work cut out for him
All in all, it was a bad loss. But, I don’t think it was as bad as it looks. It does raising a bit of an alarm re: our pen depth tho
