Barnhart needed to leave in December or in the fall. And I don’t care if it’s mid season. We all knew the BB season was a train wreck. A new AD could have made a change at the end of season. Now we are stuck. Plus a lot of attention was focused on the Barnhart parachute instead of the program. What a sad distraction. Instead UK needed a GM and it got zero attention. Barnhart became the main character.
The in ability to recruit will always get you fired before poor coaching. And Pope is on a level never seen by Kentucky. It’s bad. It’s incompetence. And a new AD could take action. The Barnhart legacy is that we have to pay off stoops and Pope. And that he let a hall of fame coach go instead of trying to help him.
I really don’t think UK recovers from this. Pre NIL we could. But not now. No Blue Blood can. Except Duke but they have structure advantages like the media and shoe companies. We don’t.
