OP, no one remembers what you said yesterday, much less when Pope was hired. In fact, most of Rafters was uneasy with the hire to begin with but sure, create a fantasy where it was you vs us and none of us believed you and you ended up being correct and us wrong.

I doubt this board needs the whole "See? Told ya!" routine. Most knew if this worked it'd be wonderful but chances were fairly high it wouldn't.

This was a terrible hire and we would never get another 5 star again...but no, I was called everything for predicting the obvious, how ya like me now....this is maybe .. well , it is worst than even I imagined
Yeah, I remember you warning us; I've got the post bookmarked.

It's kind of worse than any of us imagined.

Plenty of people were BANNED on the old board for voicing their frustration.

It was time for a change, CCC needed to be gone. Fortunately Arkansas saved UK $30M+ buyout money. I think the vast majority of UK fans were not exactly over the moon with the Pope hire. But we were willing to give him a chance. He played here on the '96 championship team, he loves UK and BBN.

But this is another one of Mitch's colossal hiring blunders. He panicked and took the easy way out because he was scared he would get told no by more accomplished coaches. A large chunk of the blame for the state of the UK basketball program is on Mitch.

Now, whoever the new AD is better be a big time hire. Someone who won't settle for just being mediocre in the major sports. Especially basketball.

For the millionth time-Cal needing to GTFO and hiring Pope are not mutually exclusive.
This is 100% the right answer. Cal burned bridges with the administration, booster class and most importantly the fans. Also, his results on the court and to some extent his recruiting were declining. It was the right time for him to go.

The complete maleficence by Barnhart in the hiring of Mark Pope is a completely different issues. It was obvious to most of us that this was going to be a complete disaster. We have been proven right thus far.

I wanted a young up-and-coming Coach. My first choice at the time was Todd Golden. I was told he didn’t have enough experience and I was an idiot. Now my first choice after Pope is Jai Lucas. I’m being told by the same people. He doesn’t have enough experience and I’m an idiot. Well I bet all those people would love to have Todd Golden right now.

You wonderful fans did nit like Cal at all. You asked for it.
Cal needed to go and Pope was about the laziest hire imaginable.
You realize that those 2 aren't the only coach options. Take BBN'S name out of your troll mouth.

Yeah you, and a hundred other fans on here!

I mean, it’s borderline to full blown mental illness that was keeping some fans from seeing where this was heading, then they doubled and tripled down on their assertions every time one of us said exactly what was going to happen, and here we are, EXACTLY where we said it would be!

Now, instead of swallowing their pride, and putting their egos in a corner, they’ll quadruple down, and move the goalpost yet again, quickly forgetting that they going to have to keep doing it for another 16 or so losses next season 🤮

Cal was washed here. The last four years showed that. If he was going to change, it wasn’t going be here. He was done and was done before the loss to Oakland.

Pope was a horrendous and an illogical hire. Mitch is 100% at fault for it. These shouldn't be our only two options.

It was time for Cal to go. A pretty reasonable and understandable opinion. The fans didn't botch the hire
Actually, it was the fans that played a huge role in this hire. The loudest cal haters went on and on about us being a revolving door of 5 stars, kids who play for the name on the back, a coach who doesn’t care about UK….

These same fans clamored for this hire, any hire that had a Kentucky connection and loved the school. Screw resumes, screw recruiting history, screw everything other than having someone they could say “loves” Kentucky.

These same fans packed Rupp to welcome him. They welcomed Pitino back with open arms, all blinded by their hatred of Cal and one and done. They wanted players who are here for Perry Ellis careers, who accomplish nothing, but at least they can “get to know them.”

our fans weren’t over the moon? The line to get into Rupp to welcome him said different.

I hope someone is keeping all the receipts for all the chicken little's we have as a fan base.
I am not pulling against our team. I want us and Pope to succeed, and I believe there is still plenty of time to do so. However its been very underwhelming thus far. There have been injuries that have really hurt us, but I just dont have confidence that he will get it done. i hope I am wrong!

Dude, don’t give yourself any credit. I mean as soon as people found out even Matt Jones found out it was gonna be Pope. It was a massive meltdown of 85-90% of fan base. I think everybody knew so the only thing that changed it was that brainwash event to make people. Think about the nostalgia of Mark Pope. So basically to look in the distant pass when he was a player and ignore everything you’re seeing..
