They might as well do away with the NIT. The winner of the NIT will be chanting "WE'RE NUMBER 77!!!!".

The timing of the expansion is curious, given we just had one of the least competitive tournaments in recent memory, largely seen as a product of the transfer portal.

I'm a casual hockey fan and really enjoy the playoffs. Hockey seems to have more respect for the game, officials and opposing teams/players than all the other sports. MLB, NBA, NFL, et al keep changing things that once made it great. It's unbearable to keep up with. I suggest everyone tune in to hockey. It's a much more pure sport with much more respectful participants.

Can't stand 3 on 3 overtime or shoot outs to decide games. Not hockey. Bring back 1-point tie games in the regular season.

3 on 3 was the Olympics. Do they do that in NHL? I don't watch much regular season. I tune in when things get serious.

When I became a fan there were tie games in the regular season. The NHL stopped having tie games years ago and went with gimmicks like what you saw during the Olympics. In the playoffs OT is played like regular hockey for a full 20 minute period. Then intermission and a clean ice surface, rinse and repeat until someone scores.
