So after the crying is done, who do we try to get. Not a whole lot left

Just saved 6 million (based on NIL speculation reports) by not getting Stokes. IMO there’s no world where he’s worth that, but hopefully we can allocate it wisely

He's not picking Mark Pope over Dusty May or Todd Golden. That's a baby vs a hydrogen nuclear bomb.
I agree, but he’s the ONLY one that give Pope any sort of hope. Me personally, as bad as it sounds, don’t know if I want Pope to get him just because he does bring a little hope. Let’s say we get him, end up sneaking in the 76 team tournament or whatever the hell it is, we have another year of this. I have an 8 yo boy who isn’t getting to experience the fun of watching UK basketball like I did. Kid choose Florida on The Show 26 because he likes watching their basketball team!!

We'll add Morton. The roster will be sat then. Pope will lose 16-17 games. Boosters will revolt, he'll be fired.

McBride, he's the consolation prize. Roster is complete.

We have 4 roster spots left and we have unspent money. There's no world where we add zero or one more player. As I've been saying, things are bad enough without inventing silly fantasies to get worked up about.

I'd say Morton, Hampton, and maybe a backup center. I actually think they'll be a better team than last year but not a final four contender. If Florida gets Chenylu back and gets Momcilovic they'll win it and not lose over two games.

Tounde staying in draft, Joksimovic is the guy IMO and Milan if we can land him. Harris isn’t coming here. Then of course we need another big IMO and plenty of Euro options. A Hampton Reclass to play the 3 is also an option.
I don't have the same desperation sense for the SF spot as most others apparently do. I've thought since before the end of the season that K. Williams, B. Hawthorne, and Noah could be a good SF group. I think Williams is likely to be a good 3 & D guy and a 40% spot up 3pt. shooter. Nevertheless, I have a feeling that Hawthorne will become increasing difficult to keep out of the starting lineup and by the 2nd half of the season (if not sooner) have arguments all over the board here about who the starting SF should be. And then Noah as a 3rd string SF is more than fine on any college roster - I thought he would improve more from his freshman season than he did, but he's fine in that role. Basically, if the other spots are good enough - and I think there are reasons to think they could be - I don't think the SF spot will be the position to hold UK back.

I have no faith in Pope in recruiting anytime.

That's a ridiculous statement. I'm not happy with where we are, but we are easily right below the top 4-5.

Florida is a likely 1 seed. Then Texas and Arkansas are top 10. I think Tennessee and Alabama are 10-20. Bama may be worse though. We are probably right below that at #6 with A&M, Vandy, maybe Auburn next.

Missouri and Oklahoma are probably next...around the bubble. They have some wildcards like our roster last year so maybe one of them can pass Vandy and/or Auburn. Ole Miss and USC look like NIT teams. Then LSU, Miss St, and Georgia all look really terrible, sub .500.

Yeah I probably agree more with you after my anger subsided or reduced somewhat

Does it really matter? Time is up to build a championship roster. Not buying any hype for next year. Sure, they could be a Top 20 team but this is freaking Kentucky. Not Arkansas.

Yes, if your goal were to finish in the top half of the OVC that group would be fine.

I guess a not bad roster is our standard now.
Unfortunately it’s starting to feel that way, I get that this roster on paper is some better than last year but a lot of “ifs”……if Hawthorne is as good as people say, if Kam makes 3s, if Moreno has improved his lateral quickness and hands and physicality, if Ndiaye game transitions to the rough SEC, if diallo can improve his 3%…….my big concern is on the road in the SEC, where do we turn cause I haven’t seen pope handle that situation well since the duke game.

Money hasn't been the issue. The issue is that nobody wants to play for the head coach here. He's throwing bags at people and they're turning their noses up and signing elsewhere. It's not the money.
College money is close. The good kids are wanting ten times that in future earnings? Do you go with a coach that can get you ten times that money potentially or to with a guy that had never developed a kid into a higher draft pick?

Maybe some ESL guys? If they aren't native English speakers maybe they won't realize how weird Pope and Fox are 🤞
