of Oktibbeha County Hospital ownership? Did Baptist take them over or somebody else? My brother who is a retired EE from MSU, and his wife, a ChemE from Purdue live near Knoxville, TN and are considering moving to Starkvegas. They had a "not-so-good experience" with our father at OCH about 10 years ago. Because of it, they moved him to Tupelo for better treatment. They recently told me they were putting their move on hold because of concerns with the healthcare available in Starkvegas....particularly the hospital. My brother is 80 and his wife is about 70. They both have some mild health issues, but fear that aging issues that might force them into an emergency event at OCH. And they simply are not confident that OCH can deliver for what they might need. They thought the facilities were satisfactory, but the staff was very underwhelming. Plus, they had heard from a few others, similar stories. I recently told him I thought Baptist Healthcare was bidding to take over the hospital, and he said if that happened, it would be a very good sign. So, I don't know what happened with that and is why I'm asking. For you locals there, what's the story. OCH doesn't have a desirable reputation from a lot of people I speak with who live away from there.

Send this to them. Looks like they're spending $100 million upgrading the hospital and staff.

Should have happened 6 to 8 years ago when they had the “vote”

Baptist took control of OCH in October.
Healthcare in smaller towns and cities is really going in the crapper. Baptist bought Anderson in Meridian and it's gone to shite. Terrible care. Ochsner's bought Rush in Meridian and it has equally gone to shite. We are slowly moving our primary healthcare to Hattiesburg, and UAB for anything major.

It's all about profit. I'm a capitalist from way back, but it has major weaknesses when bolted onto healthcare.

I mean based on the original post it doesn’t seem like the government subsidized method was working either.

Our whole healthcare system is a cluster and there's a lot of culprits.

Yes we can provide great care, but the cost is completely out of control and the incentives are 17'd up as a lab rat. Heavy government involvement means it'll probably never get fixed.
