It’s going to continue to be “beat to death”, because it can’t be allowed to continue on the path the program is on, which for some bizarre reason, you folks seem to be vehemently defending!

Why do you folks want UK’s men’s basketball program to suck so much? Why do defend the indefensible? Why are you lobbying for Pope to make a complete comedy act out of our recently proud sports team?

It’s completely insane watching all of you support this nonsense!
Has beating it to death has changed what??

Who is vehemently defending Pope? Who are these people and how exactly are they defending Mark Pope?

So, the folks that are remaining calm and letting this play out, are defending Pope and hoping the program falls? Really?

Pope was always getting a 3rd year and it's all on his shoulders, he has all the pressure and the donors have spoken.

Jumping up and down and throwing darts on a message board at this point in time, is your way of handling the situation. Just because I choose to remain calm and let it play out, doesn't make you a better UK fan than me, I can guaran-damn-tee that.

There is nobody that wants to win more than me, I'm as competetive as they come, but even I know to just let this play out. It doesn't mean I'm some freaking Mark Pope groupy, simply because I am choosing to remain calm.
Phil Stat, TF Cats, 20 m and others are not here to discuss anything . Just post doom and gloom and not watch to let the portal cycle complete. People say Hope is not a good way to approach supporting your team and they may be right but I know hate is definitely not the right way to do it..

That’s Mark Pope’s numbers for this year and many want to defend him, he did an absolutely abysmal job during the season and is continuing to do so in the offseason. I guess I’m the one percent that he speaks of…never has one been given so much and done so little with an opportunity.
I genuinely believe you're a UK fan, but the amount of hate you have for Pope is unhealthy. Like, it's gotta be affecting your blood pressure. That's not a criticism as much as it is a concern. He sucks at a lot of what it takes to do this job, but still.

Nah, I’m good, appreciate it, it’s not “hate” as much is it is calling the situation for what it truly is.

I literally posted a poll at the end of the season for this insane nonsense. Literally 98% of posters said Pope did a bad job. There is no faction of people defending Pope and his results. It’s like a bunch of schizophrenic hobos inventing arguments in their head so they have an excuse to shout in the air.

I get what youre trying to say and agree but there is zero reason to get concerned about this until he is done. Whats the point in freaking out over the hypothetical? Nothing is going to change and he isnt going to be fired pre season.

Wait and see what the team actually looks like when portal is over and recruits are signed. Anything else is just a WASTE of time.

Outside the possibility of Stokes committing, the roster is pretty much done. We have to accept that the roster we have now won’t change outside a couple of additional warm bodies.

There’s no star player waiting in the wings that will suddenly hurdle us toward a top 10 ranking. What you see is what we have: A top 40 team and will likely be outside of the preseason top 6 in the SEC.

This isn't correct. I bet Pope brings in 4 or 5 more players. He's not even close to done.

All because our AD hired someone unqualified. It’s as simple as that.

I believe if we get McBride and Morton those are very solid rotational players that would give us legitimate depth plus the guards. We do need at least one very solid, big man. I agree at least one star level player for the three position.

I’m not sure on McBride anymore, though believe Morton is a high probability

There are guys available to add to this team.

That 90 if you have Stokes moves up to top 20 probably or if you can get anybody that's available from high school ranked.

The transfer portal number goes up if you get it a few more guys.

You Got six damn spots available.

Those are preliminary numbers

Excellent ratings considering Popes not near done and the other schools are out of money .

Disagree, I don’t have hate for Pope at all, though I’m calling the situation for what it is, he’s a debacle, you speak of the portal, he concluded the season with one of the worst recruiting hauls in UK BB history, now ~85% of the top portal players are already off the board, there’s next to no fall back plan at this point.

There is so much more to this upcoming season. First is the Stokes saga. We get him, grab a Morton and maybe another serviceable player then things don’t look too bad. Actually, look pretty good. Don’t get Stokes, move quickly to get a Momcilivic, Yessofou, etc. Still doesn’t look too bad.

I think people are underestimating Wilkins and Diallo. Mason Williams is solid as an apprentice. Same with Morton. I think a lot of next season rests with Moreno’s offseason work.

How would people feel about a 28-9 record with an Elite 8 appearance?? That’s kinda where I’m at. Another GREAT pickup could boost that. With some promising recruits going into the next season on the table, and some good retention expected, things start looking pretty good.

One thing that we do have though is a lot of money left to spend. If some situations arise, we could make our situation much better than it is quickly.

Technically the 90th ranked recruiting class. However, Ousmane won't move the needle because he isn't ranked by any of the rating companies as a high school prospect. So he's basically counted as a 0 star. That's why computer generated ranking sites are poop.
He's a 22 year old that no one here even new existed 2 days before he committed. He wasn't going to be highly ranked even if eligible for rankings. He averaged like 10ppg and 6ish boards. He shot like 32% from 3. Those aren't major numbers.

Never said they were, never said anything about how good or bad he was, never hinted that I was excited or happy with the selection.

I answered the question as to which recruiting rankings number he fell into (high school recruiting, or portal recruiting) class. That's it. But thanks for info.

Why stop at 3 years? Why wouldn't you give Pope 5 years to prove himself? That would allow a full run through of freshman from his first year. If you are willing to say Pope is gone after year 3 why wouldn't you have that opinion already? Those saying at least give him year 3 are essentially lying. I can't see a logical reason for having a coaches need at least 3 years opinion. Pope has failed at every facet of coaching a basketball team. Coaching, staffing, player development, roster evaluation, media relations. He was a disaster. So you either see that and say get rid of him or you are a at least give him a full 5 years with his players guy. To say coaches need at least 3 years sounds crazy to me. What will 3 prove that 2 didn't. Anyone not ready now won't be ready after next year's first round exit either

Lulz you insinuate we would be ranked higher if he was eligible. We likely wouldn't because he isn't going to be ranked very highly.

You said the recruiting sites were poop for similar reasons, but then now admit you're not even saying he would be highly rated.

So have now negated all your own statements.

What if you had 14 years of data to literally look at and study to predict an outcome?

The question is this and it really needs to be answered: What reason do you expect a different outcome when all the data from 14 years is exactly the same?

Answer that question
But Golden and Hurley had worse starts. Can't give up now. It's about to become beautiful like a caterpillar to a 🦋.

Even if he receives 1 star it raises the recruiting rankings... Or are you actually that dumb? I mean, using "Lulz" kinda answers that question, but here we are I guess.

I once again, never said he would be highly rated, or insinuated he would be, that was all you. But keep trying. You're batting a clean one thousand on being the dumbest person on this thread.
