NCAA 5-in-5 rule is set to pass, but players like Otega Oweh won’t be grandfathered in
An unfortunate development for Otega Oweh and Kentucky Basketball.

Yep. The NCAA doesn't really get to make or enforce any rules anymore, unless or until it gets challenged in court and decided upon by a judge.Just wait. As soon as the NCAA passes the new rule, the players not being allowed a 5th year will start suing. A judge will grant a temporary injunction. And then 1000 seniors will try to return to school.
That will happen for sureJust wait. As soon as the NCAA passes the new rule, the players not being allowed a 5th year will start suing. A judge will grant a temporary injunction. And then 1000 seniors will try to return to school.

Yeah, when your coach is recruit repellant, it's a concern. It could be a team that he can build on and roll into the following year, but he won't be here. And we can’t land no one!

And we are attempting to sign 3 international players. And we can’t land no one!
You got to be one of the people saying okay Trent Noah over oweh last season im guessingWhew
Maybe we missed that bullet
Although they probably could have all come here and still not rounded out our roster. Not surprised. It would have been crazy if they granted all these players more time with no where to go
Antitrust lawsOn what grounds
They could just stick with 4 years of eligibility. There is no legit reason for 5 years of play.Suppose they had to draw the red line somewhere. That would have been absolute pandemonium
I wonder who these "lawyer buddies" are.MJ mentioned that his lawyer buddies said there is no way the NCAA will be able to prevent current kids (like Oweh) from getting their 5th year once the onslaught of lawsuits begin.
It's not over yetNot surprised. It would have been crazy if they granted all these players more time with no where to go
This is exactly what is going to happen.Just wait. As soon as the NCAA passes the new rule, the players not being allowed a 5th year will start suing. A judge will grant a temporary injunction. And then 1000 seniors will try to return to school.
Where does it end? Should Jared Polson get to sue the NCAA bc he only got to play 4 yrs? There has to be a date when the new rule gets implemented.OO can just sue them. It's completely capricious to not let current seniors who've played 4 years not get 5yrs. What a bunch of asholes
The new rule is 5 years after your HS graduation (or 5 years after turning 19). This year's seniors are the only class that would potentially have eligibility if it went into effect now as opposed to a year from now.Where does it end? Should Jared Polson get to sue the NCAA bc he only got to play 4 yrs? There has to be a date when the new rule gets implemented.

Antitrust laws
You're limiting the earning potential of the 2026 seniors while allowing the next class an extra year of NIL earnings from college athletics.
By that logic I guess Gerald Fitch needs to start getting retroactive NIL checks.OO can just sue them. It's completely capricious to not let current seniors who've played 4 years not get 5yrs. What a bunch of asholes
What about the '24 seniors and so on...?Antitrust laws

They've( NCAA) been doing pretty good lately. It's not over yet
If the players take this to court. The NCAA will lose.
I agree with you, but it is interesting to consider the possibility. I'd like to see it happen. Here's a look at his career ...Highly unlikely he is coming back to UK.

Executive orders are not law.Didn’t Trump do the executive order for this five years of eligibility basically? I don’t see how the NCAA could prevent this graduating class because of when Order was signed. These guys are still student athlete until school is out that’s when it seems like it would go into effect, but they may say since football and other sports didn’t have that.
I understand your sentiment, as it sure is going through an adjustment period.College basketball is no fun anymore.
Trust me, just because someone is a "lawyer" doesn't mean they have a clue what they're talking about regarding this subject. As I said, one wonders who his "laweyer buddies" are. Jones is a clownMJ mentioned that his lawyer buddies said there is no way the NCAA will be able to prevent current kids (like Oweh) from getting their 5th year once the onslaught of lawsuits begin.
They have used all their eligibility before the rule was passed. I don't believe they will retroactively apply it.OO can just sue them. It's completely capricious to not let current seniors who've played 4 years not get 5yrs. What a bunch of asholes
I think Denzel will be fine. The NCAA has ZERO spine when it comes to handling extra eligibility waivers.Gonna be shocked if Denzel gets his waiver.
