Just wait. As soon as the NCAA passes the new rule, the players not being allowed a 5th year will start suing. A judge will grant a temporary injunction. And then 1000 seniors will try to return to school.
Yep. The NCAA doesn't really get to make or enforce any rules anymore, unless or until it gets challenged in court and decided upon by a judge.

MJ mentioned that his lawyer buddies said there is no way the NCAA will be able to prevent current kids (like Oweh) from getting their 5th year once the onslaught of lawsuits begin.

It is a guarantee a school will sue and get a friendly judge to rule against the NCAA. Probably Diego Pavia.

OO can just sue them. It's completely capricious to not let current seniors who've played 4 years not get 5yrs. What a bunch of asholes
Where does it end? Should Jared Polson get to sue the NCAA bc he only got to play 4 yrs? There has to be a date when the new rule gets implemented.

The new rule is 5 years after your HS graduation (or 5 years after turning 19). This year's seniors are the only class that would potentially have eligibility if it went into effect now as opposed to a year from now.

Antitrust laws

You're limiting the earning potential of the 2026 seniors while allowing the next class an extra year of NIL earnings from college athletics.

By that logic I guess Gerald Fitch needs to start getting retroactive NIL checks.
All new rules have to start somewhere.

Didn’t Trump do the executive order for this five years of eligibility basically? I don’t see how the NCAA could prevent this graduating class because of when Order was signed. These guys are still student athlete until school is out that’s when it seems like it would go into effect, but they may say since football and other sports didn’t have that.

Yeah, when your coach is recruit repellant, it's a concern. It could be a team that he can build on and roll into the following year, but he won't be here.

Executive orders are not law.

They effectively function as guidance to the branch on how an administration interprets legislation and have no impact at all beyond the term.

Trust me, just because someone is a "lawyer" doesn't mean they have a clue what they're talking about regarding this subject. As I said, one wonders who his "laweyer buddies" are. Jones is a clown

They have used all their eligibility before the rule was passed. I don't believe they will retroactively apply it.
