Is the team set for next season?

No we need two big dogs to complete the roster. The SEC is brutal and we definitely can’t compete against the top ten teams with who we have now. I like the base a lot but we need a superstar scorer who can get a bucket when we need one! We also need a big time shooter who can keep the defense honest and knock down open threes. Would love to add another big rebounder who can hold his on inside as well, but that’s probably a want more than a need if we get the other two.

I want to get excited, but other teams did much better than us. You have to ask yourself some questions why we are missing out on some guys.

Do we have the money - Yes
Do we have the fanbase - Yes
Do we have facilities - Yes
Do we have a national stage - Yes
Do we have the coach they want to play for - it just does not seem like it.

I hate it for Pope, but this seems to be the case. He could still pull a rabbit out of hat, but I think it is fair to be VERY nervous.

No there will be more adds for at least bench players. I wouldn’t be surprised if UK doesn’t get that ‘27 HS SG to commit and reclass to next year. It’d be hard for a HS kid to turn down a big payday. But he could jump ship after the year too!

Pretty much. The forward we got over the weekend was a surprise and likely pivot. We may get one more bench guard. But I think we have our core pretty much. Should be a 17-20 loss season.
Not even close.
We need and will get a 3rd Guard. Maybe Williams can be counted on for 8-10min, but Wilkins and Zoom aren't playing 35+mpg each.
We need and will get a backup PF or PF/C.
A backup C, and another F aren't off the table either, but aren't certain.
Now how good these "backups" are is TBD.

If anyone needs a “pick me up”, go check out the stat line from yesterday of our new starting Power Forward…

Spoiler Alert: Beast Mode… Not really 😩

Anyway, if that’s next season’s team, and Pope makes it to the buzzer of the final game without ending up in the corner of his office spiritually, mentally, and emotionally BROKEN, in the fetal position calling for his mommy to come rescue him, I’ll drive to Lexington and give that man a well deserved hug!

Educated prediction time… Over 15 losses, bottom 2-3 in the SEC, and no NCAAT.

this is top 30-40 type team. if we get stokes it could push us to top 15-25 level and likely save Popes job for at least 1 more year. if he misses on stokes and we lose 13 games and barely make the NCAA tourney I don't see him coming back.

Likely to add one more starter and 2 key rotation pieces. Depending on who those are we could be a 5-8 loss team with a punchers chance or a 10-13 loss team similar to Popes first year. We are already better 1-5 than last years team just not as deep on the bench yet. It all depends on how it plays out.
Did we really replace the production of Oweh, Aberdeen, and Chandler? I would like to think so, but I'm still skeptical.

Simple answer is yes, Not to mention 2nd year Moreno and an upgrade at the 4. Our bench is non existent though right now so we must add quality players. Right now the only downgrade in the starting lineup is Oweh but we upgraded Aberdeen and Chandler. People with Pope hating blinders are the only ones who can't see that. Everyone in our starting 5 has legit NBA potential this season, last season that wasn't the case.

How many more international players do you think UK will sign? Thanks Rainmaker

1-2 more. Another 4/5 is almost certain and possibly a 2/3. It really depends on a how a few recruitments go which direction the staff goes. People don't understand we are heavy in the mix with 4 of the top 10 projected picks for 2027 NBA draft. We land 1 of those and we are top 15 and we land 2 and we are top 10. That's not to mention the 5/5 passing or one of Tounde/Milan. It is far from over for our roster next year.

C'mon, this board already has him pegged as a future Hall-of-Famer. 22 year old guy who somehow has more "potential" than a 5 star 19 year-old. Remember when we used to say "we have a young but talented team, we have room to grow and will be dangerous in March". Whether or not it panned out, it was truthful. Now, these people are flipping it saying these older bums we recruit (that nobody else wants) suddenly have "potential"?!! No, just, no.

Our second highest potential guy (#1 being Hawthorne) is an unranked kid from Furman. Cot dayum.

I don't want anything that saves this loser's job and keeps us in limbo. If he keeps his job, he has to EARN it with a final four, strong SEC finish, and killer recruiting class.

Honest question, as you do talk to people, and I appreciate what you share. We are always "heavy" with all the top 10 picks. We never get any. What is going to change this time around?

I'd look for us to add the following, in order of importance:
1) Starting Wing / #1 option (Tyran/Milan/Tounde/overseas option)
2) backup C (probably overseas)
3) backup 4 (probably overseas)
4) backup CG (Jerone Morton)

I've liked every addition thus far and if that level of quality continues we've got a really good roster. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Most the competition has "blown" their wad per se and we have money to spend. I don't think we get a kings haul and land 3 of our top targets remaining, but I do believe we land one starter quality and 2 contributing bench pieces at the minimum with an outside shot at 2 starter quality guys. The competition with a lot of the Euros we are going after aren't the big name schools as they have their guy for that spot already, the competition is instead the current foreign team they play for.

My biggest point was that Aberdeen, Jelly, MoD and more likely than not Chandler aren't NBA level ceiling players. Everyone 1-5 that we have this coming season has an NBA level ceiling. Add that to the fact we are in the mix with more NBA level talent and I still believe this is Popes best team. People don't want to hear that because they want him gone, I want him gone too but not at the detriment of our team and season.

Appreciate that. Does make sense we'd have a lot of ammo left in the tank while others have run dry. We'll see if the staff can do anything with.

What also gets me is this is Louisville's current roster, for the number 1 portal haul the roster is very unimpressive to me. No team looks at that and is afraid.
PG: 6’1 Shelstad/ 6’3 Johnson
SG: 6’5 Montgomery/ 6’4 Woolley
SF: 6’6 Knox
PF: 6’10 Folgueiras
C: 6’9 Bidunga/ 7’5 Dynes

Before anyone says anything I understand we shouldn't compare ourself to Little Brother, but I do find it comical people think PK has done so good yet we "SUCK" in their minds. I'd take our starting 5 over theirs 10/10 times.

We clearly aren't done. There are 4 open spots and more money to give out. We will get atleast 2 more contributors. They might not save the season but its moronic to think we are done.
