ranking colleges by 2026 nfl draft picks-- Ohio State (11) Alabama (10) Texas A&M (10) Clemson (9) Miami (9) Texas Tech (9) Georgia (8) Indiana (8) Penn State (8) Florida (7) Iowa (7) LSU (7)

Of these schools clemson, psu, florida, iowa, and lsu missed playoffs. we were so close in some games but I suppose we weren't the only ones that fell short despite having the horses

The fact that we had guys get drafted doesn't mean we "had the horses" overall. Now compare the skilled positions of OSU, Indiana, Bama, Oregon to Iowa. In truth it shows that the coaches did a pretty solid job of coaching to what we had, but we certainly do not have the horses on a full roster basis. Close, but no cigar....

Curious also, how many UFAs Kirk has placed, and how many of them have made a roster over his years.

I'd have lost money on the Running Back total. That generally has been a pretty strong position and I thought more of the Albert Young types were late rounders. But I guess there were many injuries and sudden career flameouts (Wegher, Robinson, Coker). Also shocked to see Betts was a second rounder. I kind of remembered him as a late rounder that carved out a long career as a secondary back. Group it together with wide receiver and QB and it adds up to 11 'skill' position players (3 of which came with the building) over 26 years seems about right, lol.
