Trilly shared the name of a F visiting us, Josiah Parker from Florida Atlantic. Averaged 9.6 pts & 6.0 rebounds this year although was much better in AAC play where he was Freshman Player of the Year averaging 12.2 pts & 8.3 rebounds in 18 games with a 50.9% FG%.

Offensively he's a slasher/driver and offensive rebounder. Not a 3-point threat at all (4 for 25 ouch!), he's a 6'7" 225 Forward more in the Aligbe/Ndefo mold. Draws a good number of fouls (4.8 per 40), is a solid offensive rebounder and a good finisher at the rim (66.4%). Rates as a good all-around defender although not much of a disruptor (low Block & Steal rates) but that is Sha's strength as a coach. He does rate as an excellent defensive rebounder. He led the AAC in Defensive Rebounding at 23.6% and was in the 94th percentile nationally.

An undersized PF who can't shoot but plays with energy and aggression. More talented than Aligbe and more willing to play inside than Fisher. His most appealing attribute is his rebounding. 12.6 rebounds per 40 minutes in the AAC as a Freshman Forward is impressive. Rebounding from our PF position was a big weakness for us. Our PFs got only 16.1% of our Team's Defensive Rebounds which was 359th in all of Division 1.

Would much rather prefer a PF who can Rebound, Defend and hit an open 3. This guy checks 2 of the boxes and would have to be paired with another PF who can shoot.
Listed in this article as #10 in transfers still available in portal.

Parker is really good. I’d be willing to invest major money here if I was Sha.

Seems we’ve gone quiet again. However I didn’t see a ton of exposure on Del, Roddie or Thomas before we snagged them up. (Although seeing we have interest in Josiah from FAU)

is there a list of frontcourt targets that we are in the mix for? Any other players at other positions(although seems guard is overpopulated already). Or are we all in the dark.

Since Dan is implying we can’t afford a real center, we definitely need to prioritize rebounding at the PF spot.

Would have preferred someone who can shoot a little bit but rebounding is a necessity. Last year was awful for us in the PW spot in that regard.

Parker would be the undersized 4 who could thrive here. The type we need to get with our budget an management style. With him, Wilcher, and Jones, at least can see something forming. Then maybe some reliable depth with Anderson, Trey Parker, and maybe e Thomas.

Even Trilly says they get little out of Seton Hall and Sha seems to be “very picky”.

I still can’t believe we have 1 player returning. That is comical.

I applaud Shaeen for being picky on players coming in. It is what roster looks like in July, not April. The issue I have with him is not keeping some pieces after they have played a year.

If we can't afford a real center we will be last in the BE. You can't compete in big time hoops without a decent center. Going with power forwards and asking them to play undersized against teams (which will be just about everyone on the schedule) with legit centers is going to be ugly. It is also sad commentary as to how far this program had fallen.

Hopefully it is NOT true and Sha and the GM find and pay a legit center!

Was looking at when our big transfers announced last year. On May 1st we got our first center commit from Payne. Hopeful that the bigs for Seton Hall get in house in the next week or so. Last year we got very lucky to get Hines late in the game. We will need some magic like that again.

Of the big men identified on this thread as having been contacted by Seton Hall (and there weren't a heck of a lot), only Jerald Colonel (SFA) is still available. Southland Defensive POY. Averaged 7.3 rebounds/2.6 blocks in 25.0 mins per game. 6'9", 200lbs.

To be fair it’s been ongoing for a while.

Under Sha in 2022-23 we had Tyrese Samuel and Trey Jackson play the 5. Tyrese wanted to be a stretch 4 and Jackson was at best suited as an oversized 3.

in 2018-19 we made the tourney with Mike Nzei (6’8”) and Sandro manning the front lines. Sandro wasn’t a Center and we got absolutely nothing out of Taurean Thompson.

we have had centers that are technically more PFs who couldn’t shoot in Delgado and Teague both only 6’9” and no ability to jump or rim protect.

we have had teams that were exclusively strong at the PF spot. 2011-12, Pope, Auda, and Mobley.

Even going back to the Luis Orr days we made the tournament in 2004 with Grant as a Frosh, Whitney as a 6’8 PF and Andre sweet at 6’6”. That season Grant only started 8 games filling in for the time Whitney missed.

So it can be done. I think we need to be more creative at the PF spot. You can roll the dice on C, but Jaden Bediako diamonds in the rough are hard to find consistently.

Joeyklings had recently mentioned PF Devin Williams (FAU) on this thread. 6'10" and tied for 3rd nationally in blocks, averaging 2.6 per game (23.8 mins/game). Do we have the wherewithal to pay him? Reportedly drawing interest from Kentucky and, in addition to SHU, per X, he has "heard from" Clemson, Syracuse, USC, and Miami. Nice player I would surmise.
