I would’ve liked the Jets to draft AK in the 7th rather than them giving up 2 4th rd picks to move up to draft Cade Klubnik in the 4 th rd. Never have been impressed with Klubnik over the last 3-4 years. Played on a talented team and I don’t think he played that well overall. Backup QB in the NFL.

Ahead of Nussmeier is surprising to me, guess I undervalued AK's talent
Pavia skills aren't that highly thought of , I believe, and height is an issue ,so I'm not that surprised that AK
was picked before him.
But I must admit I thought Garrett and Diego's names would be called before his.

Good Luck AK (y)

He's a four year starter and that's rare these days. Parcells wouldn't draft a QB who didn't start for four years. That worked in 70s-80s. AK can toss a burner and he can scoot. Sideline passes got a lot of practice at RU. In right offense I could see him worth a shot

The Jets? Do you dislike AK lol. Jets are probably the worst team for QBs historically.

Awesome news! First Rutgers QB drafted since Mike Teel in 2009.
Interesting fact:

"The selection of Kaliakmanis, the 223rd overall pick, made it five straight years that Rutgers has had at least one NFL Draft pick. That matches a record the program set from 1981-85."

Rutgers had a 4 year run 2007-2010, with 2009 being a banner draft year.

Parcells wouldn’t draft a guy with less than 4 years of college experience, not starting experience. I believed he used 30 college starts as a metric. I’m glad AK got drafted, I think he is as good as a few of the guys drafted in front of him with the exception of Mendoza and maybe Simpson. He is an ok athlete but he definitely can’t ā€œscootā€.

I mentioned Pavia being he was the Heisman Trophy runner up. Not that I thought much of his skills either. His actions after not winning the Heisman probably cost him too.

Yes three year starter but a senior who graduates - that's how I got 4 years. These days players want to come out after a good year of stats like basketball. By "scoot" I mean he can evade a rush. I dont mean going to run for 60 yd TDs like Wimsatt. AK should send thank-you presents to Duff and Strong because if he had Washington and Dremel as starters he would be home hoping for a UFA tryout

  • Be a three-year starter
  • Be a senior in college
  • Graduate from college
  • Start 30 games
  • Win 23 games
  • Post a 2-1 TD: INT ratio
  • Have at least 60% completion percentage

It will be six straight next year.

Well deserved and he helped elevate the offensive performance of Rutgers. Also helps RU recruiting by showing a transfer portal person can have success at RU and a chance at the big leagues.

And hopefully he can start a new tradition of Rutgers quarterbacks playing in the NFL.

Super happy for him. But his fumble against PSU this year will scar me like Townsend’s drop at WVA in 06.
So happy for him. Remember his reaction walking to the sideline after that unforced error that change the game for PSU. Actually banging his helmet against his head. That will never happen to him again.
