By the way, has anyone read or heard about even ONE suspension, even for just a game, even for just a series, for "academic violations" since NIL came to be?

How exactly do you go from a 0.4 in High School to a 3.7 in college? I know you can mature and all, and maybe you just land on great teachers in college, but it seems unusual.

During an interview with CBS Sports, Reese revealed he initially had a 0.4 GPA in high school.

"I think the secret is just time and effort," Reese said in the interview. "In high school, it was a time where I didn't even try in school or didn't really think school was important. So, it just took for me to just lock in with it and take it serious."

Reese went on to accumulate a 3.7 GPA in college, per the interview. He was a two-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2023 and 2024, majoring in human development and family science.

Took a quick look at the program on THE ohio state website. A not very qualified person could easily make good grades in that major. Half the courses are on-line. Doesn't look like any of them have any analytics at all. He probably was a little better than 0.4 in high school or he wouldn't have graduated. That would be less than a "D" average. But it sounds like just another kid who was shoved through a mickey mouse curriculum at a sports factory.

This is a doozy Eurocat.

First, please relearn the word initially.

Second, study Reese’s difficult background and how the AMAZING Ted Ginn Senior basically adopted him - much like LeBron was adopted by a family in Akron.

Third… who cares? It’s either he works to get an OSU degree, or we have actual minor league teams associated with colleges whose players don’t even attend there.

I think Arvell is AMAZING, and I am hoping he and Newsome II have a resurgent season for the Giants.

@SimpsonElmwood you down for a Giants home game to cheer on some NUFL players? I’m… concerned about the basketball team we’ll see in Piscataway next year to say the least

Maybe put those research skills to use before posting @Eurocat ? If something seems incredible it just might not be accurate.

He had those grades at one point early on and then transferred to a different school. Apparently worked hard to get back on track. You’re throwing a kid under the bus without putting in the least bit effort on your own. Why don’t you read this story for more context:

Amen! Reese’s story is amazing, and if people want to read about a life changing coach… read what Ted Ginn Senior has done for COUNTLESS kids in Cleveland.

The fact he has survived pancreatic cancer for so long is some sort of miracle in itself.

I’m always happy to call OSU on their mistakes, but Arvell’s story is one I hope heard by many more kids who are struggling in high school.

Since some of our so well-educated fans don’t like to read, here’s the Instagram version:
