I am beyond glad.

This is a desperate move in hopes that prying eyes look no further. IMHO, if you're willing to do this in public imagine what takes place behind closed doors.

I realize folks have cooled on JMI but why would an administration sign a deal through 2040 without confirmation it was a working relationship. There's kickbacks and money flowing under the table. I just hope it comes to light.

Mitch has himself to blame for it too. If he had hired a better coach for basketball, no one would be up in arms. 22-14, several blow outs, recruiting in a mess, people are going to focus on the root of the problem. If UK had hired someone like May and went 30-6, won the SEC, and made the Final 4, people are too excited with the results to even care about the AD.

This is a good point.

If the basketball team was good and everyone was in love with the coach the AD had just hired, we wouldn’t care if they gave a former AD a pile of money for a fake job as a golden parachute.

But losing magnifies everything. Mitch’s lazy search in 2024 is a big part of why we’re losing. He deserves the fans ire, and him even accepting that fake job was spitting in our faces.

Here is the real value of this outcome: Mitch wont be taking this pretend role to justify his "salary".

Does that mean he wont be getting paid? Doubtful. This was 99% sure a buyout disguised as something else to save face, which is why his teaching salary came from athletics.

Now its going to force everyone to say exactly what this was: a way to get rid of a decades+ ineffective athletics director and all the smear that comes with the deserved outage.

this is serious no brainer, captain obvious territory decision making for any university.

But I guess that's why they say " if sense were common, everyone would have it..." ... and this would have been a non-issue from the start because the idea was ludicrous to begin with, seeing as how we need him gone totally and completely from the program.

How much is he getting to go away? Either it will come out if we paid him or some booster wrote a BIG check...Glad he is gone, but Mitch did not leave 950k per year on the table..
