These stories are getting old. Quite frankly, 80% of them wouldn’t have been a crime ~pre-1994. Not calling right or wrong, but these ain’t “Parchman worthy” in my opinion. Society has changed a bit. This wasn’t uncommon not too many years ago. It just didn’t get reported. Without forced circumstances, I just struggle with some of these.

Teachers at my HS looked like a cross between Margaret Thacher, a deceased Betty White and Rosie O’Donnell.
Two were male teachers and female students. One was a female teacher and a guy. Female teacher looked like Stevie Nicks and was about as 17ed up most of the time. One of the male teachers and female students eventually married and were my next door neighbors for 25 years.

Totally unsurprised that you think this.

Totally unsurprised you feel that way. Have some perspective outside of the last decade for God’s sake. Fact of the matter is, our latest generational bounds are new in comparison to the last 10k years of human history. There was even a time when public schools didn’t exist and neither did these legal (money-making) definitions!!! Crazy to think about I know! Of course, you’re smarter than all of them. Congrats!

I knew of at least two comparable scenarios. Teachers met students in the late 70s/80s and were married. Had kids. No one shunned them in the community…at all. Teacher retired respectably as an administrator. His wife (former student) had a role in the district office later in life. Good people. Voters. Tax payers. State fans.

I was in high school over in the 90s, so in the time you referenced, and a teacher 17ing a student was very much illegal then.

10,000 years of human history has no bearing on it being obviously improper and illegal for a teacher to 17 a student in modern US reality(the 80s, 90s, and today all apply).

Back in the day that coach/teacher would just quietly not have his/her contract renewed.

I was in high school “over in the 90s” too. And you can bet your a^^ we’re over the rainbow and in anywhere but Kansas, Toto.

God bless America. I’m glad I can at least cancel out your vote. Re-read the original post you imbecile. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong. I AM saying 17’ing corrupt lawyers shouldn’t be deciding the good or bad. Have some 17’in historical perspective.

And if you think “modern US reality” is the measuring stick for morality, you’re dumber than a sack full of hammers.
