RIP to a great talent

Fantastic song. Could be a theme song for the Rutgers message boards, or social media in general:

Been away, haven't seen you in a while
How've you been, have you changed your style?
And do you think that we've grown up differently?
Don't seem the same, seems you've lost your feel for me

So let's leave it alone, 'cause we can't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we just disagree
Ooh-hoo-hoo, oh-oh-ho

I'm going back to a place that's far away
How bout you, have you got a place to stay?
Why should I care when I'm just trying to get along?
We were friends, but now it's the end of our love song

So let's leave it alone, 'cause we can't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we just disagree
Ooh-hoo-hoo, oh-oh-ho

So let's leave it alone, 'cause we can't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we just disagree
Ooh-hoo-hoo, oh, oh-oh-ho
e when I'm just trying to get along?
We were friends, but now it's the end of our love song

So let's leave it alone, 'cause we can't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we just disagree
Ooh-hoo-hoo, oh-oh-ho

So let's leave it alone, 'cause we can't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we just disagree
Ooh-hoo-hoo, oh, oh-oh-ho

We have lost a true giant of classic rock. Dave Mason, the brilliantly talented guitarist, songwriter, and co-founder of Traffic, has passed away at the age of 79. According to his family, he went peacefully at his Nevada home on Sunday, resting in his favorite chair after cooking dinner with his wife. It was a quiet exit for a man who made some of the loudest impacts on music history.
Mason was a cornerstone of the late-sixties British rock explosion. He helped build Traffic from the ground up in 1967 alongside Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, and Chris Wood. While the band leaned heavily into progressive and psychedelic jams, Mason brought a sharp, undeniable pop sensibility to the table. He penned essential tracks for them like Hole in My Shoe and the absolute classic Feelin Alright. Though Traffic recorded it first, his brilliant composition of Feelin Alright became a defining rock anthem for the ages, famously covered by Joe Cocker and countless others.
His legacy stretches far beyond his own bands. If you look at the credits of the greatest rock albums of that era, Dave Mason is everywhere. He was the kind of player other legends demanded to have in the studio. He laid down the iconic 12-string acoustic guitar track on Jimi Hendrix's All Along the Watchtower. He sat in with The Rolling Stones on Street Fighting Man. He contributed to George Harrisons All Things Must Pass and even played with Paul McCartney. He was a musicians musician through and through.
When he branched out on his own, his solo career was just as impressive. He struck gold with tracks like Only You Know and I Know and the massive 1977 hit We Just Disagree, proving he never lost his ear for a perfect, timeless melody.
He kept playing and touring for decades, always demanding excellence from his band and strictly refusing to use backing loops or studio tricks during his live shows. He was rightfully inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
Dave Mason left an indelible mark on the soundtrack of our lives and shaped the guitar tone of an entire generation. Rest easy to an absolute legend.
