No joke, their odds on the title next year went from +850 to +700 from this news. Also UF jumped to +700 with their news. I was too pu$$y to take the bet at +850 when I had the chance.

UK was at +4000 yesterday, now at +6500. Pathetic

Louisville as of tonight has the number one portal class even after missing out on Blackwell, hard to watch these programs thrive given our situation.
We’re in purgatory until CMP is gone. And maybe even longer if we end up with an inside AD hire. But at that point it wouldn’t even be worth following UK basketball if that happens.

Big time get for them!
I guess BlueBloodKyFan73 better take that crystal ball to the shop for recalibration. He made three straight posts on this shooting down anyone who dared mention Blackwell that Michigan and Illinois were the only possible destinations.

My predictions on how the portal will shake out

I issue Exhibit A, what it looks like when a university has ZERO issues with NIL from its administration and boosters!

Duke ain’t entertaining dudes ranked 150+ in the portal, they are too busy writing checks for the pieces that can bring them banners NOW.

We can argue if Scheyer is the guy to make it happen, but eventually he is going to because he is able to get the dudes to get it done, regardless of who is coaching.

But I thought we are just a "poor state" that can't afford players? Meanwhile, little brother paying players like they're the Great Gatsby.

LOL

The propaganda from the Pope no Hope Cope Cuckold Coalition is heavy right now (not directed at you, but to others who are trying to invent narratives about why Pope sucks so bad).

He will do exactly what Cal did amass so much talent that the team itself will win a title with minimal intervention.

Scheyer may not be the greatest coach but he certainly must have something going for him to continue to recruit at a high level. Many times the national championship winner does not have the best roster or players. So much luck is involved to first get to a final four even with a loaded roster. In the next 10 years we may end up with the best roster let's say 4 of those years and still not get to a final four. It takes so much luck on your seed, not having an off night, and a bad match up with a lower seed team. We need a new smart AD to hire us a coach with the ability to recruit on the Scheyer level to get us back competing for final fours. Getting to a final four next year with the roster Pope is assembling, is as much of a long shot as winning the KY Derby with a mule.

The main issue right now might be money. I don't think Pope has the confidence of the main money people and the golden parachute given to Barnhart has made things even worse. So there is less than half of what was previously given and that has led to being outbid on several players especially when some of the money is being held back for Stokes.

Still even with Stokes this is not a championship line up when compared with Duke, UConn, Florida,, and even UofL. Kentucky basketball is trending in the wrong direction and is no longer is the top 10 discussion . The question is will it ever return to that level and only a home run hire for both the AD and next coach will change that narrative.

Everyone rags on Scheyer, but every single one of us would take Scheyer over Pope in a heartbeat. Duke has a chance to win a championship every year. They were one fluke play away from a Final Four. They were one of the only teams to beat the eventual national champion Michigan.

You not hear? We got the #868th guy in the portal. Or something like that. Why? Well, see his older brother was a 160# bean pole RS last season and THIS season he's going to be a key piece of the team. So much of a key that we had to give his no talent brother a scholly to keep just to keep him. Yep, that's where we are.

How did Dude suddenly start replicating our OAD model and being successful at it during Cals last several years? There was so much outrage when we were doing it but Duke copied it and they’re reaping the pleasures. Everything with the NCAA including their comments about, “death to cheaters” was clearly aimed at us. There’s definitely something going on behind the scenes that restructured everything to benefit them. Sickening to think about

The good news is Duke still won't win a championship because Florida will have a dominant team.
I didn't say it was good news for us.

Who cares about Duke? That dude was never coming here. Just like anybody else with half a brain. This isn’t about Kentucky vs Duke. That rivalry no longer exists. This is about a coach that nobody and I mean nobody wants to play for. How do you keep a guy around that nobody wants to play for? The ones that are coming/staying here are only here picking up a check. It’s the elephant in the room that everybody keeps walking past. Stokes? Are you kidding? He’s not coming here. No top recruits are coming here until we get a new coach. Bottom line.
