This NIL thing really has worked out well. ;)

One example mentioned in the story: Miami paid Georgia QB Carson Beck over $3M to not enter the 2025 NFL Draft and spend a season in South Beach. He’s projected as a 4th-round pick this year. If he’s selected there, he can expect to make around $1.1M, according to the NFL rookie wage scale.

Said that when this whole "pay for play" thing got rolling, that the NFL would feel the pinch on their rookie pay scale. Your going to see more players stay in college and extra year and not come out. The league is going to have to adjust or they're going to be drafting these guys with an extra season of wear on those tires.

Great points.

If I were the player I would be looking at who might take me also. Don't want to be drafted to a dog with terrible ownership.

Maybe the changes made by the Raiders will improve things with that organization. Tyler Linderbaum, for example, is now their starting center. They have a new head coach. But the raiders have not been relevant for a while now.

And can you imagine being drafted number one overall (or in the 1st round) by the New York Jets? Who would want that? LOL

there are still, and will be for a long time, guys standing in line for an NFL gig. The talent pool for just about every position, except for truly great QBs, is huge. The NFLL is ruthless in its talent efficiency

Probably should stay in "school" if you are a projected 3rd day pick & have pay for play college eligibility.

Read the next post after yours. this isn't just my opinion. There may be a LOT of guys trying to get in, BUT a lot of the guys the league really wants are NOT coming out after 4 years, and certainly not early like they used to, and remember the league would like to get these guys with as much of the tread still on their tires as possible. A year or two less wear is a big deal especially for some positions like running back...

I think most of the time the pros would like them to stay in college. Especially at QB position.

many many articles stating it.

NFL doesn’t need to do anything.

It would be interesting to look at the KF era and what players would have stayed longer if NIL was a thing.

Greene comes to mind, although grades always seemed to be a struggle for him. 3rd round pick?

I can see your point, but on the other hand, it would all become a wash in a year or so. One also has to take into consideration that the average stay in the NFL is 3.3 years which means most of the players aren't starters. If I were the NFL, I wouldn't increase the pay for 2/3rds of a roster (53 rostered players and 16 practice squad) that doesn't start or in many instances play on a regular basis. For those players who have long careers, a rookie increase only inflates later salaries. You also have the revenue sharing issue. Owners receive less than half of all revenues (players receive 48% BEFORE EXPENSES).
Like I said, I can see your point, but I also don't see a real need.

Why? The college gravy train ends, the NFL will wait for the inevitable

I seriously doubt the nflpa gives a damn about raising rookie salaries. The vets want their big contracts.

the days of a rookies like Demarcus Russell waltzing in and making more than established stars is over. I doubt the NFLPA wants more cap space dedicated to rookie punks.

Sorry if Pepsi but how long until players start suing to eliminate how many years they can play in "college?"

Exactly. Sue for the same "you are limiting my earning potential" reason.

That's why the NCAA is afraid to add more restrictions to how often you can transfer.... Because it "limits earning potential", right?
