Skydiver scuff-ups at events seem to be happening more often. WInds can be strange near stadium bowls

Good thing we didnt have a spring game. I wouldnt want anything like that happening at Rutgers. We dodged a bullet.

When you think about it. It makes little to no sense having someone parachute onto a field.

Stadiums get weird winds and currents being big bowls. I see some jumpers that want to float in gently but they get caught by the wind. When Army jumpers come in they float down circling the stadium high and then shoot-in hard and quick like they have to get to the bathroom - not much floating. Wind cant easily jack a jumper coming in hot.

I saw the skydiver interviewed last night on the news. He said he got caught in a wind shear and he was lucky that the parachute kept him hanging up there as it was a long drop down.

I'm betting that's why it wasn't held, overly concerned about the health and welfare of parachutists.

That flag was way too big (1100 sq ft). Jumper said it was a problem and he thought about cutting it but it had a 25 lb weight attached to it and could have hurt someone if it hit them. Army jumpers never come into stadium (windy toilet bowl) with jumbo Toyota dealership flags. I don't doubt the jumper had experience but the unexpected has to be expected and a huge flag like that is asking for trouble in a stadium imo.

Who else remembers a skydiver breaking his leg on landing in Rutgers Stadium?
Skydivers often delivered the game ball , as part of the pre-game festivities, during the Doug Graber era.
