The only guy worth a smack to Coach Kentucky that loves it as much as us is is Rick Pitino. Everybody knows it. He made the biggest mistake of his life. He said it.. and then Mitch Barnhart made the biggest mistake an A.D. could ever make by not restoring pitino. Whether it was to push tubby out or in 2007 to go full court press to bring them back to Lex. Pitino has always wanted to be back UK so much that he took the freaking city school 60 miles away. Pretty soon that guy‘s gonna be gone. We’ll have 00 zilch of a coach who is elite and loves Kentucky.

Yep. Pope definitely didn’t do himself any favors whiffing on every single bigtime high school player. (Except for Stokes who’s slow-playing his brush off.)

Because of how much Pope paid them, causing other coaches (Golden) to mock us for it.

It burned Pope. He's toast.

We are starting over next year with a new coach. Let's just hope a star coach is interested.
Overpaid jq, I'm saying the portal has barely been open. If we end up getting someone like Kenny payne I'll be mad at fans who I dunno are real or just baiting

Regarding portal talent, Bidunga is really good both ways. Players of that caliber won't appear in the portal often, and whoever lands him has a monster piece to build a contender around. The rest are Tier 2 (and below) players who have obvious limitations. For example, Blackwell (Tier 2) can score but has suspect defensive metrics; Miles Byrd (Tier 3) can defend but can't score. There are probably only about five players in Tier 2, and they're all considerably below Bidunga in overall production.

Regarding high school talent, many NBA talent evaluators think this is one of the weakest classes in recent memory. Scouting grades also seem to agree since Stokes isn't anywhere near the prospect that Flagg or Dybantsa were, for example, and there's a considerable drop off descending down the top ten.

The apparent bottleneck of talent next year implies that teams should be overpaying the true studs -- which are in low supply -- while saving money everywhere else. Bidunga might even be able to name his price, because there's no way to create a better lineup than the one that begins with the only 10+ RAPM portal guy. One team would basically need to land everyone in Tier 2 (won't happen) to build the kine of roster you could easily make with Bidunga.

I think we’re all in agreement CMP requires a talent upgrade to survive next season. Looking at the available portal talent, and factoring in our inability to close on our first options at any point in CMP’s tenure, I have a hard time seeing us flip that switch.

For instance, the guy at Colgate seems like a realistic get. But who all is he hearing from? Are they teams we expect to compete for a title? Or even win their league? Let’s see…

“Cox, the 6-foot-3 combo guard, is hearing from the likes of Indiana, UCLA, Syracuse, West Virginia, Missouri, Virginia Tech, Utah, Creighton, Rutgers, Auburn, Dayton, UNLV, SMU, Villanova, Texas, Cincinnati, VCU, Butler, and Maryland among those in pursuit, his agent confirmed.”

Hmm not great when we’re competing with Dayton!!

Anyway, really just venting frustration. Looking forward to the spring game next weekend.

Screw the GD spring game. This is how Mitch and Eli have gotten away with feeding us this **** sandwich for the last decade. When KENTUCKY fans are saying “oh well, at least there’s football to look forward to” then wholesale changes must be made. Like, do you hear yourself?
