After losing the series this weekend to Cal, the bat Cards have sunk to a miserable 117th in the RPI. As far as the NCAAT is concerned, we’d need a massive bubble to be considered anywhere near it.
The Cards do have 13 of their 16 games remaining against teams in the top 40 of the RPI:
VIrginia (19)
@Wake Forest (25)
UK (29)
@miami-FL (33)
Clemson (40)
and three midweek games against teams on the wrong side of the bubble currently:
@Vandy (72)
Indiana (102)
Bellarmine (218)
The Cards probably need to win each of our 4 remaining ACC series and at least 3 of our 4 midweek games to get within shouting distance of the NCAAT bubble, beginning tomorrow against UK and this weekend against Clemson.
We are very fortunate that the ACC changed the format of their tournament this year to increase the number of teams from 12 to 16. Our 7-11 conference record has us in 12th at the moment.
