I'm sorry if you thought I said that. I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what face value for them would be.
I only gave an estimate in the upper deck because the lower deck will depend on which side you are on from what I’ve seen with the women’s national team games. The side with the team benches will have an astronomically high face value.

NYC is still the center of the universe...will be a logistics nightmare...but mucho dinero for FIFA

This face value stuff is adorable. This is the world cup final in NYC. How many people are even going to have a legit chance at a "face value" ticket? The question for everybody here will be "how high am I willing to go" on the secondary market.

The world cup final is in New Jersey. NYC adjacent.

I hate when Jersey gets the shaft on stuff like this. Calling it as it is even though I understand your overall message.

I get given the proximity to NYC but honestly, it's such a bland choice for the finals.
It’s funny, watching the news last night you’d think the West Side Stadium was actually built.🤷‍♂️

Anyone who has been trying to project the ticket prices for the WC Final might be interested to know that tickets went on sale today for the 2024 Copa America matches at ML. Third row from the top of the stadium, corner section, Group Stage Argentina vs Chile: $300 list. Wow.

Yes was going to buy tix but between Ticketmaster being annoying as always and prices/fees being ridiculous I passed. The game times in particular for MetLife were not conducive either being all Tuesday and Wednesday for the 3 matches there.

Got section 201 seats (end zone) for the Semifinal for ~$270/each, inclusive of their ludicrous $44 fee per ticket.

Number one, it's ludicrous that the rails will only be open for those attending the games. Two, at least the are being open and honest on their intent to price gouge those using the trains.
Yeah, my initial reaction was that sucks, but they are losing two weeks worth of revenue to shut down for a special event. They historically have had budget issues so a shortfall like that needs to be addressed.

I don't understand how transportation for 8 games is going to cost the agency $48 million. They haven't built anything right? What is the rationale for banning cars driving to the stadium? This is such a brain dead plan. It's going to be a mess, and it's an absolute mugging. Take note next time someone suggests hosting the olympics.

This sounds like a disaster.. No parking allowed at "NY/NJ Stadium" and soaking fans for the train ride

How NJ Transit plans fare increases for world cup matches
LA Olympics organizers will absolutely say hold my beer to this plan

No one is going to the Olympics thread to talk about the WC. When it begins we'll have a thread on the main board.

Nice to see that people will have to pay $150 every round trip to be herded like cattle 16 times.

I saw cost for round trip train tickets at other hosting cities are below $2.00
Apples and oranges. Take Philly for instance. They have an urban stadium along a subway line. Logistically, they can't really increase the fare just for people who are taking that line only, and getting off at the stadium.

Whereas in NJ, there is a dedicated train line from Secaucus to the stadium. It only operates on game days. No other passengers take it. It's logistically easy for NJ Transit to charge whatever they want for this route.

I am neither defending nor attacking NJ's decision. I have no strong opinion on it. I am simply saying that NJ is doing what others cannot.

I was at the Ireland-Italy game at Giants Stadium for the 1994 World Cup. Once in a lifetime experience especially me being Irish.
I was on a family trip that started in Ireland and ended in London during the World Cup in ‘94. The excitement throughout the country was palpable. You could feel it.

When we arrived in London, at the hotel we stayed at, we asked the concierge where is a nice Irish pub we can go to watch the game. He sent us to a section of London and a specific pub that we went to watch the game. So my sister, brother-in-law and I went to watch the game. It was my turn to get the next round Guinness and when I went up to the bar to order…just as I mention my order to the bartender Ray HOUGHTON scored. I didn’t see it, but I heard it. It literally felt like a bomb went off in the pub and that’s really no exaggeration.

Btw, his last name in capitals is intentional as that’s how the announcer said it as he took the shot…”HOUGHTON!”

I still have that Ireland ‘94 WC jersey in my collection.

* Actually that call is from his other goal against Italy in Euro ‘88…

This is the World Cup ‘94 one…

Need to add Paul McGrath's shut down of Roberto Baggio that day.

See 2:00 for an example.

On the topic of Italy soccer, what happened to jaydogsmooth, the Florida State fan? He was a big supporter of the Italy team, which failed to qualify for last three World Cups. Florida State football is 7-17 over past two season including 3-13 in ACC. On top of that, JDS is a Rutgers football and basketball fan.

Hope JDS is doing ok.

RU Chris is correct as the JDS name got gunked up w/the website transfer.

Italy - nothing more to say. Blow it up, start over, stop the nepotism, invest in infrastructure,, enough w/the politics, etc.

FSU - Mike would be gone if he wasn't owed 60 million. He has an uphill battle, and now even more so w/Miami and VT looking to dominate for years to come.

RU - I've made my feelings known on Greg and Steve, as well as Brian. Greg has taken us as far as we can. Steve is almost like Mike - had a solid run, but the portal/NIL have been his downfall, and what happened w/Dylan and Ace was nuts. Quise is thankfully no longer in the fold - disaster hire by Hobbs from a program that has historically been one of the best.

Thankfully, Kelli is now righting the ship on multiple levels. Between her and JH, lot of optimism. Brian... my patience is wearing thin. Another guy similar to Mike that had success, but portal/NIL have been his downfall. The FF from 22 equity is starting to wear off, hoping he can turn it around.
