Gotta wonder what's happening out there with AC. She's either quietly monitoring a bidding war between several programs waiting until the highest possible offer comes in, or she's not seeing the $$$/interest she thought she would. Apparently she got a lot of favored treatment from Fennelly that the rest of the team didn't get, I don't imagine she'll get that same treatment if she signs with a blueblood.

Well, they played 4 on 5 defensively all year so I guess that was one of the favored treatments she got from Fennelly.....I was really surprised she didn't redshirt her first year at ISU (pre-portal era). It was clear she didn't have the stamina to keep up w/ D1 level game speed. They really never forced the issue, but she was always good for 20+ ppg - So maybe they didn't think there was anything to 'fix'......

She averaged 19ppg her freshman year. Why leave that on the bench?

Because she can't move and is not able to play defense.

I think you're exactly right - the coaches took the points and gambled on the defensive end - apparently to the detriment of losing the entire team. If a coach is riding your azz for a lack of defensive effort and she's not getting criticized I imagine it would lead to some resentment. Imagine watching her play defense on tape and she's too slow to know where the ball is 1/2 the time but not getting the same "coaching" you're getting.....not a good situation i would imagine.

Apparently during practices when the rest of the team ran sprints AC was allowed to ride a stationary bike instead. And she was allowed to check herself in and out of games whenever she wanted/needed. None of the other players were afforded that kind of treatment. If all that is true, Bill Fennelly did that young lady no favors giving her that kind of special treatment, complete malpractice as a head coach. Of course teammates are going to develop a level of resentment. And what's she going to do if she transfers to a good program and isn't afforded those advantages?

I am not cheering against her but something tells me this will not be a great move. She won’t want to give up minutes. She will want the ball constantly. She won’t play defense. If you are a top 25 team are you going to want to deal with that as a coach? Maybe her best move is to a team not expected to go places and she comes in to be the star, loads up on points, etc.

I'm sticking with Minnesota for AC. Hopefully wherever she lands she'll get some real coaching and not what Fennelly did to her.

If she wants to play in the WNBA then I suspect that she will work harder to get in better shape and work on her defense.

Audi Crook's payout will be huge, top dollar. Putting together a group of complimentary players will challenge (financially) most programs. With right talent and chemistry A/C make any program an immediate contender/threat.
No denying she's a great offensive player. The issue I see is she's a one year rental. You have to adjust everything you do offensively and defensively for her to be on the floor. Is that wise? Is it doable? I don't know the answer, but I'd be leery if I was a head coach.

Don't entirely disagree but I have my doubts as to how well her game would translate to the WNBA. At 6'3 I don't think she's going to be able to back down, turn and shoot over WNBA bigs. They're much bigger, stronger, and more athletic than what she's seen in the Big 12. Can you imagine her trying that on Jonquel Jones or Cam Brink?

I don't think she has a prayer to have more than a cup of coffee in the WNBA. Athleticism doesn't translate. That being said, I didn't think Brok Purdy was more than a practice squad QB either so.....

Seems like a step down program wise and a lateral step (at best) NIL wise.
I don't think OSU is a stepdown in wbb from ISU right now AT ALL

Jaycie is in her 4th year and was 24-7 last year and 25-10 this year

I don't really know why so many players just got in the portal but they just got a huge pile of money.

They kept their best player Stailee Heard

They are slaying in the portal..

They just signed Liv McGill--the only player in the country to average at least 20 points, six rebounds and six assists this past season

And Ellie Brueggemann.
They also got LA Sneed, Nene Ndiaye from Rutgers, andTelexa Weeter.

They will likely be one of the top two Big 12 teams this year.

I hope Audi goes there and does really well and gets good coaching, because she seems like a lovely person.

We all have different reasons for being Hawkeye fans and different expectations. I am not from Iowa but fell in love with the Hawkeye program watching them on tv in about 2012. I loved the way they play with such cohesiveness. My definition of cohesive basketball is a great passing team that plays selflessly, is connected on defensive, and has a culture of joy. Do I want them to get the best players and make a final four again? Sure, but I am more concerned about getting the players that fit my definition of cohesive basketball. If they continue with that kind of team I will enjoy following them regardless how far they get in the tournament. Therefore, I am happy that Audi and Emely will not be wearing the black and gold. IMO, they are not good fits for what I consider beautiful basketball. Best wishes to both in their new programs.
