What happened to we would get a commitment by 1:00 today?

I may have missed it about the by 1:00 thing.
1:00 pm Hawaii time. Easy mistake. And if it doesn’t happen by then, it probably means you mistakenly used the Gregorian calendar. 
I think Matt Jones made some guarantee that we’d get a commitment from either Rancik or Freeman by 1 o’clock today.
Rancik is now gone, and we’re past 1 … so it sure seems like we should be getting that Freeman commitment any minute now.

Yesterday he said by tomorrow. Didn’t say anything about 1:00
Why are we listening to Matt Jones? He literally said this past week that he doesn’t talk to anyone on the staff. He’s a blowhard. I trust him and Jeff Goodman basically the same.
He said tommorrow not 1 pm, so hopefully sometime today.. but not sure i trust him at all..
Yes he did. He said SHOULD get either Freeman or Rancik by today, but he guaranteed nothing, and certainly didn’t give a time frame.

Not exactly, he is a lawyer and words have specific meanings. His exact quote is: "Kentucky will have (absent a major change) either Freeman or Rancik by tomorrow" "Will" is not the same as "should."
Well said. Since Rancik committed to FSU, Jones said we will have Freeman "by today."

What happened to "2 commits by Friday, and 4 by Sunday," and then still "4 by Sunday," and then "1 on Saturday, and the other on Sunday, and "X is a done deal"... ?

Thanks for the clarification. Having said that, the point still stands that anyone who has studied law on any level certainly understands the difference between "will" and "should."
I once sat through several days of meetings on our organization's constitution and listened to endless debates about whether or not the word "shall" was legally binding. Someone found one instance in the constitution in which the word "shall" could not be intepreted as being legally binding and used that to argue that should extend to the entire constitution. Fun times! (sarcasm)
