My lord you're ridiculous
Franklin was a good to great coach that couldn't win big games and reached his ceiling here. Last year, Penn State went all in and he flopped. He knew he was gone and was probably ready to leave. Best of luck to him at VA Tech. Easier path in a weaker conference.

Campbell could exceed what Franklin did, reach the same levels or fail miserably. He'll be bashed every time he loses a game like most coaches but change was needed. Hopefully it works....it not, they'll find someone else.
I agree with almost everything in your post, except I don’t think that Franklin ever can be classified as a great coach because, like you intimated, he never could get PSU to the final step, and I was a Franklin supporter until last October when I could see that he had reached his ceiling here and never was going to get over it. He just failed and looked lost and, quite frankly, overmatched in most of the games that really mattered. And yeah, I know that most of the OSU losses and the ND loss were very close, but to be a great coach you have to win several of those games, especially when the talent was fairly even in a lot of those games. However, we all knew that under Franklin, PSU just never had the fortitude and poise to win those games. Like you said, it was time for a change for both parties.

Also, I’m amazed at the snarky comments about Campbell by some on this board. I don’t know how his tenure will go here; I have a suspicion that it will be similar to Franklin’s, but in a different way. Anyway, IMO, out of all the available coaches after last season, and I say available, he had to be at the top of any list.

Marshall (and others) are making the comments they are over loyalty to James. Period. Campbell been sought after for years. He wasn't my top choice but happy to give him a shot.

I wouldn't call him great either for that reason but I can see the argument for it. Plus I was trying to avoid an argument over saying he was good not great lol

Campbell was my choice from the jump, we'll see how it plays out, like what he's done so far.

Meanwhile, Regina Midnighter, with claws out, is scouring the intrawebz for the latest hot goss that could paint his nemesis in the worst light possible ... "Franklin molests collies!?!? Why ... this must be true ... imma post it on a message board and then act shocked if someone proves it's not true!"

We upgraded by getting Campbell- remains to be seen

VT upgraded by getting Franklin- yep
Franklin is an upgrade from Pry don't think anyone would argue that point.

Guess Franklin's rolodeolex was getting low on DC willing to work with him that he picked Pry.

Weird situation I don't think I've ever seen before where fired HC returns next season as an assistant while school is paying his buyout.

seriously? based on what?
Took a dumpster fire known as ISU and turned it into a solid Football program. There was a reason the guy has been sought after for yrs. Guy has done more with less for yrs, can't wait to see what PSU looks like in 3-4 yrs.

It's honestly one of the craziest things. I still can't believe Va Tect allowed it.

I think we saw all we were going to get from Franklin - Matt C we haven’t seen what he can do with better resources - hopefully wins some wins some big games which would be refreshing.

Everyone apparently. it's not like he lost 4 games in a row last year....or blew a two touchdown halftime lead to BYU and lost by 14 points. Oops.
Are you talking about the UCLA game? Didn't know we we ever up 14

Time for you to go to the VT board to spread your love for Big Game James
