He and his staff must be paid whatever they want until they decide to hang it up. Absolutely cannot let any school take him away.
He was just extended but big programs have been poaching lately. Pretty sure UNC baseball is way underpaid relative to sec programs. Hope we can keep himHe and his staff must be paid whatever they want until they decide to hang it up. Absolutely cannot let any school take him away.
We are lucky Forbes loves UNC and being in NC.I hope things have changed since then but that’s how we lost Chief when he moved on to Louisville. Dickie wouldn’t let Coach Fox even get respectfully close what L’ville offered him.
Yes. Plenty@TommyAshley any insight on if schools have tried to poach Forbes in past seasons?
Seems like Forbes would rather pay his staff more to retain them as a matter of priority.@TommyAshley any insight on if schools have tried to poach Forbes in past seasons?
Baddour had little vision for anything but the status quo- really nice guy who was very entrenched with the “ in crowd”Baddour was a nice man, loved Carolina, wanted to do the right things and a hard worker but he had no vision at all especially when it comes to baseball. I remember an interview when we were hosting lesser Carolina in the supers in the old Bosh and the place was packed with folks sitting on the grass and he asked in an interview why we needed to change anything. He just couldn’t see it.
How does the SEC finance and underwrite their sports teams?I hope things have changed since then but that’s how we lost Chief when he moved on to Louisville. Dickie wouldn’t let Coach Fox even get respectfully close what L’ville offered him.

Better media dealHow does the SEC finance and underwrite their sports teams?
Before his extension, he wasn’t top ten. Not sure where he is now.And Forbes is from Sanford. A short drive from Chapel Hill with a lot of family and close friends. It’s not always about the money. As long as he’s paid top third of ACC average, seems like retaining him won’t be super stressful. I do hope we pay him what he’s worth.
Selling Bosh out a bit more often will help.
And why can the SEC and BiG command a “enter media deal”?Better media deal
…rightAnd why can the SEC and BiG command a “enter media deal”?
FOOTBALL.
In the next 3ish seasons we will be in the SEC. Will be able to pay him.He was just extended but big programs have been poaching lately. Pretty sure UNC baseball is way underpaid relative to sec programs. Hope we can keep him
Actually he was Dean Of Students at the School of LawHe was a cost accountant. And Dean egoistically and myopically installed him as AD.
Even more unqualified to have run a top 8 college football program.Actually he was Dean Of Students at the School of Law
Wonder how many on this thread have been around since the beginning of his tenure… there was a big cry from a good portion of this fanbase that wanted him gone!I know comparison between sports is sort of pointless, but this staff had this team SO well prepared and ready to execute at a high level compared to the other men’s sports programs. It’s almost night and day. And when you factor in relative allocation of resources….come on
Close. But I recall that Coach Williams left in response to the "siren song" of David Perno, who promised him the status of "Head Coach in Waiting" at UGa. That was "THE thing" at the time. Williams helped turn the Bulldogs around in 2006, and save Perno's job, only to learn that Perno had no intention of keeping his promise. Perno was an unabashed skunk, who later became the east coast's leading "bat roller."I hope things have changed since then but that’s how we lost Chief when he moved on to Louisville. I agree in general. But I'm not sure that he is the villain in Coach Williams' case.Baddour was a nice man, loved Carolina, wanted to do the right things and a hard worker but he had no vision at all especially when it comes to baseball. In regard to baseball, with a lot more money--from all sources. How does the SEC finance and underwrite their sports teams?
This is what I remember also. Williams got a rusty knife in the back from that loser.Close. After that successful year is when Williams moved on to Louisville--still as a pitching coach. And he had a profound effect on Dan McDonnell's team. The two of them built the Cards into a true national power.
AND his staff … eliteHe was just extended but big programs have been poaching lately. Pretty sure UNC baseball is way underpaid relative to sec programs. Hope we can keep him
Speaking of that. Bought tix to Saturday game. Online showed very very few available tix. Then the stadium was only 70% full. Very confused by that. Don’t know if it was technically sold out or not. Maybe everyone was standing in the concourse for shade…And Forbes is from Sanford. A short drive from Chapel Hill with a lot of family and close friends. It’s not always about the money. He ran one of the top athletic programs in the country for over a decade.Even more unqualified to have run a top 8 college football program.
And he ran the most important one that took 10 painstaking years to build straight into the ground IN TWO YEARS (he had help) from number 6 to number 106 and that legacy still haunts us today. He ran one of the top athletic programs in the country for over a decade.
At worst case Top 3 athletic Program in the county for over a decade.
