1) dook played as well as they can play today. They just don't have the horses.
2) Sheehan Burch is so much better at color commentary than Charlotte North. It's nice to not have to hit mute during the game.
3) It's so hard to sustain defensive pressure on the Heels. They never stop moving and their passes are lightning fast.

Doom’s zone didn’t get called for much or any shooting space penalties which was surprising. A couple of 3 secs I think were called. Just expected more calls based on how previous zone teams were called.

Glad we have Chloe but there were times I wanted her to take even more shots :)

Heels off to a terrible start against the dookies. Getting absolutelly dominated. 3-0 dook.
Turnovers were out of control in the first half, and dook was not really even causing them.

But is pretty amazing we can open with a D- first half, respond with a B- second half, and still dominate dook.

Humphrey scored 7 goals and 3 assists, 5 of her goals were unassisted. Our offense was trash all game but Humphrey just said "I got this." She is averaging 9.5 PPG over the last 6 games, The reigning NPOY is actually playing at a higher level.

This is a great point but I legit though that dook was successfully avoiding the shooting space and 3 calls better than most teams we have played by pushing the zone out farther from net. I was pretty impressed with their defensive team play.

Our last ACC loss was Apr 24, 2024: 23 ACC wins in a row. Let's get three more...

Next up is..... 8 seed dook! 11AM Wed 4/22 in Charlotte

Dook has fallen to 30th in the RPI rankings with a 9-7 record. In terms of the bubble they are probably on the outside looking is with a 29 team tournament and 15 automatic qualifiers. about 8 of whom are below the bubble.

6 Seed ND is also in a precarious position at 27th. they will face 3 seed Clemson who is 17th in RPI.

Dook has fallen to 30th in the RPI rankings with a 9-7 record. In terms of the bubble. the "last four in" now fall in the 22-30 RPI range where as the "first four out" are in the 27-35 range. So a dook loss has a pretty good chance of ending their season.

6 Seed ND is also in a precarious position at 27th. they will face 3 seed Clemson who is 17th in RPI.
I'm not sure the RPI will be as important this year. The ratings are pretty messed up. As of last week, the Heels were #9 in the RPI rankings. Not sure where they are now, but there's no way they were the ninth strongest team in the country at any time in the last two seasons.

I have to admit, the first half was probably one of the worst that our team has had this year. This just let us know that we are only human and that no one is perfect. I would rather have this happened now than in the ACCT or NCAAT. As the announcer said yesterday, Duke had a terrible game as a whole against Clemson last week. This is just an indication to all teams at some point are going to have that game when things are just not clicking right and you have to find a way to win no matter what. There was a quote that I read earlier today on Tarheel times that says this which is appropriate to what our girls was going through against Duke in the first half. It says,
The real test of a person doesn't come when everything is going well. The real test of a person comes after adversity has struck and he or she overcomes and conquers it.
--Terry Donahue

This is what our team did yesterday in the second half. They found a way to conquer the adversity in the first half.

We've never seen a lacrosse player like Chloe. The combination of skill, athleticism, vision, awareness, anticipation and competitiveness is mind-blowing.

She is a phenom and a generational talent. This is why she is in my mind the best college player last year and this year as a sophomore. She has been through a lot, but she is also the highest worker on our team as Jenny as stated. To be great, you must put the time in and she does this time in and time out. That is what great players do. MJ, KB, etc. These men and women are wired and built differently. Chloe is not only the best player in college but dog gone it, she is the best leader on the team. You say it on display yesterday. I love her energy, her tenacity, her grit and toughness, her leadership when she brought the team together and said to them, Let's Go!. You cannot teach that. That is the fire and compassion that she plays with. This is why I watch women's lacrosse. It is all because of her. I have never seen a player like her before. She is must watch tv. Each time I see her play, I am blown away on what she does on the field. Go Heels!

I thought they said that Taylor was leading in goals during the Duke game, but it looks like CH is now in front with 79. Did NW finish up last weekend? Because I thought they said she had something in the low to mid 70's, and she has 74 on NCAA stats. CH is solidly in the lead in points. If they win the title, then she's gotta be a lock for NPOY. If, dog forbid, NW does better in the tournament, I'm wondering if they'll give it to Taylor. Undeniable that it's Chloe's to lose.

they said MT was ahead (by 1) after Chloe's first goal. then she scored 6 more. NW has finished regular season, having played 2 more games than UNC. But NW has a bye to the semifinals in the BIG10 tournament, so they will only play 2 games at most in that tournament.

Thanks for the wonderful observation JOB1937. I glad that someone else is noticing this too. This makes me think that just do not like us. They make excuses for the other teams. They try to down play how good our defense is. For example, when we played Duke last week. The announcers were saying how good Duke played us before halftime. They try to say that if Duke could have score during the 2nd half they could have hung with us, etc. They would never admit that our defense had a lot to do with them not being able to score. I was annoyed by this too.

I didn't get to see the 4th quarter. After the slow start, it seemed like UNC was completely in control. Did they loosen up, sub, or did Duke pick it up in the 4th?
