Bill Belton tabbed as next St. Augustine Prep (NJ) football coach
According to a statement released by the school on Wednesday morning, Bill Belton has been named as St. Augustine Prep (NJ) football coach
Recall he was a bit a jerk about Rutgers.Interesting - whole different ball game. Wish him luck.
He’ll certainly elevate the talent of the program and bring in more kids. But he’s not going to have the most talented team week in/out when he gets to the playoffs…with Winslow the few times they played teams with equal or better talent they lost. This is huge for South Jersey (and Philly/ Thanks @kingz213) and the Non Pub A Playoff Group.
Things sure have changed at St Augie. Your second paragraph above sums up many things that will be new for Beltin to navigate. The Augustinian friars/brothers will not put up with any negative attention brought upon prep so Beltin needs to choose carefully who and what he brings in.He’ll certainly elevate the talent of the program and bring in more kids. But he’s not going to have the most talented team week in/out when he gets to the playoffs…with Winslow the few times they played teams with equal or better talent they lost.
He’ll be dealing with new issues - alumni, boosters, behavioral/academic standards of the school…
I don’t know much about Prep - but they seem like the school that won’t accept a student just because of they’re good at football.
Would like to see this workout and have a better NPA.
YEEAH… They’re going to make at least one of the Big Boys up here make that three hour drive to Cumberland County in November. Might finally make it to December at MetLife.
Might be different when they can “legally” get kids from Jersey, Pa, Delaware. They have the facilities to be able to compete regionally, let alone in December at MetLife.Excited to see - we haven’t really seem much success from B.B./Winslow when they didn’t have the talent advantage (happened like 4 times in the past 3 years).
