Where does he figure into this:

“He will utilize the integration of analytics into recruiting and roster decisions, along with coordinating information across staff, agents and key external relationships.”

I wanted to mention something about him, but then I decided not to. Who knows what the problem is but is it possible that he’s playing into this in a negative way?

He ain’t earned one penny of his salary so far.

When you have to hire daddy to get your one and only roster addition … well, that doesn’t say much for one’s “roster management” direction (whatever that means).

UK could hire Brad Stevens as their GM, or whatever silly title they call it, and Pope would still go 0-for on star players!

He’s not qualified to be the head coach at UK… Never was, never will be.
You keep saying the same thing. Got anything else?

Hard to know what is going on, but I think probably he is pushing the money ball way.

Guys like the Colorado PF, effecient in some places but not in others you can get for a 4th of the price - misfit toy.

If you think of it, it isn't dumb - Pope does not coach defense well, why go get total package players, get guys who shoot free throws well and can score and hope you get some good bounces all for under 10 million total roster and save the money for next year and most likely a new coach.

He might be gone with Pope. But I would think its best to give him a little more time and the chance to work with what will hopefully be a proven and non-goofball head coach.

Didn’t like this hire for UK in this GM like role.

Not sure why UK wants to emulate BYU success. What have they ******* won historically?

While UK enables Pope to hire third tier hires to surround himself, Duke hires a GM from Nike and the NBA (although Keegan appears to have experience in development league).

At this stage, you can’t make this **** up.

I'm not against analytics.. but this was started by a small-market team that couldn't afford a fraction of what the big players were spending, and was then adopted by other small market teams. Kentucky shouldn't START the process by going cheap and disguising it as "analytics". Kentucky is closer to the Yankees than it is to Oakland or Boston.

I don't disagree but this is likely what is going on. We looked like bafoons last year, I think this guy is here to keep that from happening.

Either spend 22 million and get the top 3 or 4 you want. Or you get 10 million and probably get the same result in wins/losses.

Doesn't Keegan believe in constructing a roster that isn't full of elite recruits? KSR says they don't believe JMI is the problem here. Way to early to determine the Keegan hire, but it did and still does look like a buddy hire
