How’s the money going to work?

We’ve heard that Pope may only have 15mil to work with this year. So, just wondering how the money distribution works? I’m using just some NIL money I’ve heard (mostly on here).

Stokes $7mil
Wright $5mil
Zoom $2.5mil
Freeman $1.5mil

Moreno $2.5mil
Kam $1.5mil
Hawthorne/Potter combined $1mil

That’s already $21mil

8 spots left?

I don’t see how UK can get the top 4.

My guess at the money at the present, knowing absolutely nothing.

Zoom-3
Wilkins-2.5
Kam-1.5
Freeman-3.5
Moreno-3
Cox-1.5
Backup C-1.5
Celiscar-1.5
Depth guys 1.5

That comes to 19.5M if my bad math works out. Don’t think people would be thrilled around here. It gets really tricky without Freeman as I don’t have a clear 4 on the board otherwise. I “overpaid” Freeman in this one just to get a dude.

That would still be a lot better roster than we had last year. For instance, Freeman is better than MoD and Gwath is a lot better than AJ or BG and Cox/Williams is a lot better than JJ at backup point. KW and MM could(should) improve a bit as well.

We should set an example and not give more then $50,000 to any player. Screw NIL, these guys getting millions and most of them don’t even know how to tie there shoes.

Freeman is worth 3 so hopefully he’ll commit tomorrow sometime. I would keep him in Lexington until he does. lol.

I don’t think that his agent would allow that with him getting 10 to 15% or whatever they make. If that’s how it plays out then it just is but most all these kids are going to the best offer and don’t even need to visit. Pope is trying to recruit these guys like they’re high schoolers and sell them on the campus and history. That just doesn’t make any sense because none of give a damn and only want the most money. Hope we get a couple good ones this week so we can build the rest of the roster.

The question is how many are coming to UK just to get their high end market rate only to go to the team they really want to play for?

At some point, why not ask for a declaration of Federal disaster for the men’s basketball program and apply for FEMA relief funds. That could be the $$$ needed to acquire some capable mercenaries.
