I think the budget question is simply the difference between revenue sharing + NIL.

Our NIL donations is pathetic, it’s still around $2M at best or less. Woeful. The school likely chipped in the balance to get to $6M (which is still low BTW).

Everyone's been questioning the 6M figure now.

Yeah, I get it. The finances and budgets are constant commentary in this day and age for good reason.

But it “feels” about right. In this cycle good rosters were $10-$12M budget. That bared out in the Big East too with the 3 NCAAT teams. And of course, some catch fire and burn (Providence). Cest la vie.

We were a consensus Top-50ish team in NET and KP and Sha coached up one side of the floor excellently while the other sagged because the talent level wasn’t blue chip, but good enough to be in the middle of the BE with a puncher’s chance at a bid, a coaching job Sha’s peers recognized with the unanimous vote. So, the $6M net available sounds right to me in that scope. Whether it was $5M or $6M, all we know at this stage is we are getting cooked because the market is still ascending year over year somehow!

Low blow to suggest those of us who criticize Sha are racist. And if you’re going to say it, at least have the guts to say it explicitly rather than vaguely imply it.
This is exactly why I didn’t touch Tom’s comment. Because I didn’t want it to get misinterpreted.

I do believe some people disapprove of the way Sha speaks in his postgame press conferences and it’s not because he is being combative.

I DO NOT make the correlation that all fans who criticize Sha as a coach are therefore racist.

So please can we put that notion to bed.

Appreciate your opinion. My response is above, is as much as I desire to touch it.

I don’t think it’s basketball relevant and not important to me in the big picture. Tom might feel differently.

However, Sha should be evaluated based on, on court and basketball program related topics only. I’m personally going to stick to that.

Also—while I have no problem criticizing Jerry’s blue-tinted glasses—I’m not entirely sure I followed your critique. At least as you presented it, the numbers were apples-to-oranges: first one was NIL plus rev share, the second lower number was just rev share.

Seton Hall for record had no NIL for the 2025-2026 season.

If this money was in the “NIL” bucket then we would have and should have signed players more aggressively in the early signing period.

All money that was previously directed to NIL collectives were sent to Pirate Blue. This allowed for fans to get their proper tax write off.

Seton Hall then waited for the House Settlement to become official and then all players were compensated through the “revenue sharing” process.

If I am incorrect, show me any reporting that states we spent $1.5-2M in NIL and that Seton Hall’s administration spent the balance from their own bottomline.

You may very well be correct! My only point was you were comparing what were nominally two different numbers. (And typo in my message, now fixed: I said they were NOT apples-to-oranges when I obviously meant they WERE apples-to-oranges.)

I definitely disapprove of his unprofessional speaking in press conferences and everywhere for that matter.

Be professional. Carry yourself respectably. Speak clearly. Represent my alma mater.

This is a damn UNIVERSITY. Our highest paid employee can't be expected to speak professionally?

Agree. But it’s just the lowering of standards throughout society in general that allow it.

I couldn’t agree more. I wonder if there’s anywhere he could take a public speaking class or two… 🤔

Yea, it's not rocket science. Successful people often do that because it's not a natural strength for everybody. It's quite common to take courses to help yourself become better at communicating effectively, professionally, be a better public speaker, etc.

When you are dealing with the media constantly, and it's a main part of your job, it's sort of a no-brainer. I'm in sales and have been considering joining ToastMasters to improve my public presentation skills.

lol it’s because people are lazy and this is easy to say and it sticks. But a little common sense says the racist person isn’t watching a sport that’s 80%+ minority. It’s today’s lazy thinkers who use the platforms available to them to put out garbage. It’s really sad. What racist against black people spends his or her time watching seton hall basketball, it’s just dumb. At some point over the last 70 years they would’ve realized it’s not for them.

What may be racist is the lack of white players on our team the past few years. We must have the most ethnically nondiverse team in the BE and in a major conference.

I've never listened to Sha at a post game and thought he was anything but a pro.

He's got a bit of a lisp and horse voice in general but he's been fine.
Really? I can get bits and pieces but his speech is incredibly difficult to understand in any setting, whether it is mid/post game live interviews, post game pressers, mic’d up in huddles.

When I was in the media room Sha was often hard to understand even if I was within 10 feet of him. He does not always talk close to the mike and his voice is very, very soft.

I personally could care less how Shaheen speaks as in diction, cadence, syntax. I have no problem understanding him at all.

I don't like his biting and often over personalized responses he gives and his short temper and colorful language.

Maybe a lot of coaches are like this? But I am basically a BE centric and mostly SHU centric viewer at this point. It's never professional to raise your voice at reporters (and others from what I have heard from campus) and drop multiple f bombs etc etc in press conferences... No one comes off good doing that.

And if this board criticizes how Danny acts on the sidelines they should criticize Sha. Although he was MUCH calmer on the sidelines this season I will say, which I was very happy about.

And I've been on the record on this board also criticizing KWs schedule complaint antics, and biting personalization with humor to reporters as well.
