Thought this was interesting, apologies if it’s been posted already.

I saw it because the new GM reposted.

Very troubling trends for Seton Hall.

If inflation is really up 65% from last year (which seems valid) that would mean our $6M budget from last year would need to be $10M this year just to be at the same low level!! So if we have $8M this year, that's the equivalent of having $4.8M in last year's market.

And if $8M was the average BE budget and $9M the average P4 budget last season, this year its $13.2M for BE and $14.85M for P4.

Very troubling for a lot of teams.

I mentioned on this forum numerous times that we needed 15 mil to compete in the BE and make the dance. Now you guys understand why!

Sure, getting that money was a stretch but that has got to be at least the goal! Not 8 million!

Getting more than double unfortunately is not going to happen. A jump to 10 would be a big accomplishment!!

How many BE teams can keep up I wonder. And when do some schools say enough is enough.

I said this on the trove too but this seems way premature. Only a small percentage of players have signed so far. The unexpectedly high “inflation” could just be the early spenders taking a top heavy approach, making a few bad deals, agents asking for unreasonable amounts that they’ll never get, etc.

There’s obviously going to be some inflation, but I’d be surprised if, when the dust settles, it’s 65%.
