I thought he was a definite lock since he was a legacy recruit but what do I know … not much! Hopefully he changed his mind …

While that may seem like the door is shut, it’s important to remember we’re still a long way from signing day and things can change, especially at the QB position where Iowa had their guy in last year’s class locked in more than a year before signing day, only to have him decommit, commit to Indiana, decommit there and finally commit to Boise State less than a month after the Hawkeyes flipped Boise’s former QB Tradon Bessinger. Keep an eye on Nawrot as we close in on signing day.

Yep, signing day for the 2027 class is still in the distance. This is one that could be flipped.

That said expect Iowa to go after another quarterback in the class. If we end up with two that's okay.

Absolutely- what’s crazy is everyone from the media said he was nearly a sure lock but obviously that never happened… but yeah, still time to flip

Frankly, I'd have to question the judgment of a player who would choose Kentucky over Iowa right now. Maybe Jake doesn't think he could win the job in Iowa City. In any event, I never worry about players who choose other schools. Nobody knows if this kid will be any good or not, and I hear there are other QBs out there. Find one who wants to be a Hawkeye.

Is this for real?

Considering his dad wasn't exactly high-profile at Iowa, "legacy" might not be as strong as it is for an Epenesa type.

Like I said in another QB thread, where a HS kid starts his college career means very little nowadays, especially at QB. A vast majority of FBS starting QB's last season were transfers. From now on, it will be a rather rare case for a HS QB to start at a B1G school, spend 2-3 years developing under the OC/QB coach and then be the man for his Jr and Sr year.

Faux Mahomes chose Nebraska over Georgia, because Nebraska guaranteed him he would play right away and Georgia said NFW we are doing that. So never underestimate the promises kids are being giving to commit to somewhere. Fatrick would have been much better off staying at Georgia and learning and competing.
