Is anyone surprised? I’m not.

I know it won’t happen, but I would almost have more respect for the school and program if Sha just went out and recruited HS players exclusively, especially tri-state kids. They would struggle but the program could save the money until the dust settles (assuming the dust settles). They may all leave anyway but at least they will be kids we recognize.

$6 million last year, Sha coached every ounce of talent out of the group, no major injuries in a weak BE, great defensive/putrid offense, and they were not an NCAA team.

He didn’t have an offer from anyone yet
Who cares, theyr getting offers all the time, probably even in season.

Why would that make him declare right now instead of immediately or vice versa?

Just trying to understand this new madness we’re living in

It is odd that we have had some $$ the last few years, and seemingly no one wants to return to play for Sha. I'm not saying that is the only factor -- of course $$$ is driving so much of this -- but at this point it has to be "some" factor.

All that matters ultimately is what the roster looks like by Memorial Day, so no five-alarm panic needed. But there does seem to be some underlying issue here beyond $$$.

What is the point in waiting until now to go into the portal?
My thought is they have offer from SHU they could live with, basically agent puts out feelers, if he can get more and kid feels it is enough and willing to move on, they enter portal, otherwise would accept offer and return to SHU.

Guess another reason, player knows other players are coming in and he does not want to be relegated to backup role. Do not think that is the case in William's situation with our current roster.

Crazy we are totally rebuilding again. Definitely a troubling trend especially since Sha has done well with 2nd year players.

But players like Mike are a dime a dozen. He played well in the OOC and was a disruptive defender but was downright terrible in BE play overall and was arguably the worst starter in the Big East.

Trilly reported Fred Payne, a combo from BC visited us the other day. May have influenced his decision along with Wilcher?

The only players I will/did miss are Kadary, Tyrese Samuel and Hines. Clark and Dre Davis are too small for their positions. The rest I never or will ever think about again.

Re-Load!

Too soon to tell if we will miss Clark. We typically don't have all Big East players "hanging from trees", especially all Big East second teamers and first team all defensive players.

I absolutely missed Dre Davis. And so did Sha and the team. He was undersized for the position, but he was still a good high major starter.

Yeah, forget the stars we create. We are 0-for in retaining those over 4 years. Embarrassing.

These role player types like Williams, Dar, even Parker can be replaced in and of themselves. Wilcher may already be better than Simpkins. Their VORP (value over replacement player) is lower. But I do believe continuity helps improvement, so there could be an hidden, unrealized value.

The fact we again have no continuity is concerning to me.

Posters saying we won’t miss Clark, really? Everyone points to what he couldn’t do rather than what he did really well— run the team, play incredible defense, score double figures, over five assists per game on a team that can’t score, a dose of charisma that put some fannie’s in the seats. All things recognized by his peers but less so here. And he would have provided continuity at PG.

Yeah I don’t get it. Must be emotional. He’s a good player that got better here as the season went on.

I mean this is just ridiculous. I would really love the backstory of the money these guys are asking, and compare it to what they eventually get. I would have been quite happy to run it back with Williams, Parker, Dar and Clark. We need some continuity.

So for the 3rd year in a row, we will need a roster list to figure out who these guys are in November? I just hate this. I would say i am done with watching college basketball, but i have 6 months to get over my disdain for what the sport has become.

I wonder....
What did we pay Williams this year?
What did we offer him to return?
How much does he hope to get in the portal?

Any conjectures?

Could he go to a school a step down from us and get more money? Richmond, Charlotte, Tulane?

Posters wrote about Clark landing at IU. If so, I predict he has a year similar to Coleman at OSU; will not be invited back and takes a big pay cut
to finish his career at Elon.

The campus itself doesn’t offer a lot either ... it’s easy to think there’s something better out there when you are living in an old apartment building on Turrell Avenue. My aunt lived in that building for over 20 years. It was old then, and she died in 1986.
Out there it’s 2026. In this program it’s still 1955.

He can be missed AND also be replaced. Will that happen? We’ll see.

90% about money , 10% other factors. Probably even be more than 90% about money. Mostly using Hall to try to get more $$ from another school. No attachment to schools for many players. Reason why fans are starting to have no attachment to team anymore.

It’s tough. Apparently we offered around $5 million for Clark and Hines and it wasn’t enough. We don’t have a budget to just buy the players we need and don’t have the war chest to retain our best players when the money is no object schools come after our best players.

Payne looks good and seems to have a decent 3-point shot in the reel I saw. Athletic and has a brain - can't get into BC otherwise. Does that translate into high on-court IQ? Prob yes, but still gone tomorrow if we raise him up. Let's lock him down for 1 year. 😂

100%. Take Clark off that team and we are a lot closer to the 7-25 record last year and a lot less exciting to watch. It really hurts to lose him. All-Big East players don't grow on trees.

Two guys thst were counted on for minutes up front - Seumick did not play and Godswill barely played. None of the starters were out, but those two injuries really impacted people having to play out of position.
