I did not attend today so I can only report what I saw on GameChanger. I am not even sure the game is over yet, but by the time I finish this post, it should be.
The visiting Gladiators got off to a rough start and trailed 2-0 early. But they exploded for eight runs in the middle three innings to take control and ease past the Wildcats. The last score I saw was 8-3, somewhere in the seventh inning. So hopefully the Cats are not going to embarrass me with some big rally of their own!
The only other detail I can pick up from the box score is that errors were an issue for both teams as it shows them committing three apiece. But I can assure you that either one of them played a better game than UVa did today......I stayed home to watch that one and after scoring 20 runs at Notre Dame Sunday, they fell apart today and lost 6-2 at VCU.
But back to high school ball. If Riverheads did in fact hold on to this lead and win, they are keeping pace with Wilson for the district lead. But I believe that Alleghany also factors in there and that will be the Gladiators' next opponent Thursday in the scorching hot sun. And to think it has not been that long since we wrapping up in our overcoats to watch the games!
OK, let me go back and check on the final score.
