We already vacated enough wins by having McNamara as our QB. Can't they take pity on us?

Why is it only Iowa that gets hit for these things? Because we self reported? Seriously had to be a bunch of coaches that did the same through agents or directly. Gambling stuff too, you can't tell me with all the NIL money there aren't hundreds of athletes illegally betting on games. Apparently the message is just cheat away, see if they catch you.

it’s a pathetic sign of the times when bureaucrats go after one of the most decent upright programs and coach in the country

It’s bc we stole from a blue blood and not the other way around. Need to stay in our lane and only tamper against G5s and let the Michigans tamper against other P4s

Dumb. Really doesn’t mean anything though TBH.

Only thing this changes is Kirk’s HOF chances. If they got Leach in below 60% then Kirk will too tbh. And he can still get over 60% by going 9-4 every year for the rest of his contract, which Iowa is certainly capable of doing.

They dropped it to .595 already, and these vacated wins don't count as losses so they won't have a much affect.

You'd hope that the staff, were they to cheat, could have done a whole lot better than Cade McNamara.
So that's what we get for self reporting the infraction. What a joke. The NCAA KNOWS this is going on all over the country without question. You have guys announcing they're leaving before the portal even opens and there's no tampering. Once again Iowa is the low hanging fruit. Nice of the NCAA to "flex" the rules on us once again. Somewhere Noah Shannon is shaking his head.....

Yes its because we self reported. Incredible since the NCAA has no b all's to go after the real cheaters, lets make an example out of the teams that come forward.

Kirk Ferentz Statement Following Today’s Decision to Vacate Wins:

“I am disappointed by the NCAA’s decision today. Throughout the process, our program has been open and honest about my mistake – contacting a potential player in the hours before it was permissible by NCAA rules. I felt it was important to make amends for the issue, which is why I voluntarily served a one-game suspension to start the 2023 season.

I believe today’s decision by the NCAA vacating four wins in our 2023 season is overly harsh and inconsistent with the violation.

As I tell our team and staff, it is how you respond and move forward that defines you. Our focus is on the 2026 season and that is how we are moving forward.”

Iowa President Barb Wilson and AD Beth Goetz have released a joint statement:

“We are very disappointed in today’s ruling by the Committee on Infractions. Throughout this nearly two-and-a-half-year process, the University has fully cooperated with the NCAA enforcement staff. More importantly, when the facts revealed that violations had taken place, the institution and the head coach publicly accepted full responsibility and self-imposed several significant sanctions, something few others have done. We believe the decision of adding the penalty of the forfeiture of wins is unwarranted. The matter is now closed, and we have moved forward.”
