Well...that didn't last long ?So much negativity on here for an 8-2 team to start the season.

Why would anyone be negative when 5 of the 9 batters are sub .200?Well...that didn't last long ?
Bird needs to go. Just awful.Refresh my memory...why is Jake Bird still on the roster???
Get a ticket out of town for Doval, as well.
Cashman and Boone are still trying to justify acquiring those two bums last year.Bird needs to go. Just awful.
Doval not much better.
team needs upgrades from these two guys.
I doubt that either one has to "justify" trading for Doval or Bird. Their jobs seem strangely secure.Cashman and Boone are still trying to justify acquiring those two bums last year.
Just a matter of how many games those two guys piss away before mgmt admits they made bad trades.
I think there's a subset of guys that simply can't survive the pressure of playing for the NYY.I doubt that either one has to "justify" trading for Doval or Bird. Their jobs seem strangely secure.
Even when one looks over at Queens and sees three former key bullpen guys doing well for the mets.... Holmes, Weaver, and Williams.
Donate his MLB jersey to Goodwill!Jake Bird sent down to Scranton (AAA).
The problem with that thinking is that the team really wan't that bad last year so it makes sense logically. However, the reality is that our flaws can be exploited by good pitching in the playoffs. Also, Hal's stance to not overspend will never help without a very high level of talented and cheap players. Right now, our cheap players suck or are too inconsistent. Rice is really the only impact bat we have that is young and controllable. Wells, Volpe - inconsistent.Cashman really think he wouldn't get the same results as last year if he didn't make any changes?
Except SS and 3B were known weaknesses going into last winter and mgmt addressed neither. The problem with that thinking is that the team really wan't that bad last year so it makes sense logically. This is why I always advocate to bring up kids to try them out. We need them. Rice wasn't supposed to be this good, neither was Judge. However, they got a chance and crushed it. We should wipe out the bullpen and just put youth in there.
If you're not gonna put up with a 400 million dollar payroll, you have to cut corners somewhere.
I think it will be more than 2-3 games this year.Except SS and 3B were known weaknesses going into last winter and mgmt addressed neither.
And even though Grisham will singlehandedly win you 2-3 games a year, he had a career season and the assumption he could repeat that was a gross miscalculation, imo. Certainly resigning him was a gamble.
This just seems like ownership is content with making the postseason, not winning the WS.
I guess we'll see.I think it will be more than 2-3 games this year.
Ryan McMahon with a game-winning home run ?
Who would have bet on that ?
And yet for some strange reason the Yankees have just recalled Jake Bird from AAA.Bird needs to go. Just awful.
Doval not much better.

The only possible reason would be "starting the clock" on someone's MLB seniority/service for eventual salary???And yet for some strange reason the Yankees have just recalled Jake Bird from AAA.
Why would they do that ? He's awful. Been so since the day they got him last season.
Have they no other options ?
Probably. Money was no object with the boss. However, the luxury tax does complicate things a bit. Plus, there's draft penalties now so even he would be struggling a bit I'm sure. The game was definitely simpler back then."he's cheap" ?
George Steinbrenner must be turning over in his grave.
That's why this team is always DOA once the playoffs begin.I know the goal is winning, and the pitching has led the way, but 17 KOs against the worst team in the division is embarrassing.
Yep, a perennial playoff team with a low ceiling/high floor. That's why this team is always DOA once the playoffs begin.
