That's been the question on Tar Heel boards for quite a while now. Fans were fighting each other in the discussions.
He won MVP of the NBPA Top 100 camp with big scoring numbers. But his shooting numbers in EYBL were abysmal. And then his senior year was just a ton of injuries and missing so many games he wasn't eligible for a McD AA nomination.
I guess maybe the scouts were thinking he had big upside as a tall scoring PG? I don't really know.
What I do know is TrillyDonovan confirmed what the UNC sites have reported... Mike Malone moved on from Mingo. He wanted big bucks and Malone would rather spend it on portal players.
Tell me something. Aren’t you a little embarrassed at how shadowed you are to Duke. UNC is an afterthought these days, I mean Duke isn’t slowing, they own all the press, nobody thinks about UNC at all. I’m just wondering
1. How another team in your state was able to pull that off to that extent. UNC was a tight group with power. And it’s like you’ve had your throat slit and nobody even stopped to pink up the body.
2. Does UNC personnel and brass even have some sort of pathway forward or will it continue to just be the Duke show? What do UNC fans think about this? Do y’all notice how bad it’s become?
Sounds like I’m taking shots but I’m just being real. If Lousville did that to Kentucky, well, they couldn’t. So it’s just shocking to me.
1. UNC has been to three National Championship games and won 1 National Championship in just the past decade, while dook hasn't even been to a title game.
2. UNC, coached by Hubert Davis of all people, won the two biggest games in the history of the UNC/Dook rivalry a few years ago.
3. UNC hit a game winner over dook a couple months ago that's going to be shown on the UNC/dook highlight for the next 50 years.
Maybe you're young. Maybe to you, a couple down years under Hubert Davis is the end of the world. Maybe you only care about recruiting class rankings. But I've been a UNC fan since I was a kid living in Lexington, and was unable to watch UK basketball due to the TV ban as part of the Eddie Sutton punishment. I've seen a lot of good seasons and a lot of wins over dook. I also saw the 8-20 season under Doherty, which was the absolute worst UNC basketball I've ever seen.
So to answer all the questions and hyperbole in your post, No to everything. And if you wanna troll me, you gotta do a much better job in the future.
