I think it's as simple as Mamu is a big man who shoots fairly well from the outside, and that fits in very well with today's NBA. It's why a guy like Mamu has value in today's NBA, while a traditional big like Angel Delgado(who would have been huge 15 years ago)never really got a shot. Also, Mamu is a decent rebounder and passer, that helped him fit in as well.I find it interesting that Manu has made it in the NBA and Whitehead fizzled out.

Delgado would have never succeeded in a past nba era. He was paint scoring and in and had no off hand.I think it's as simple as Mamu is a big man who shoots fairly well from the outside, and that fits in very well with today's NBA. Sandro has had a really solid year with Toronto as first big off the bench and sometimes starter for a playoff team. Really happy for him. Great rep of SHU.
Whitehead had many brilliant blocks and assists and shot decently from the perimeter in his NBA time. But Spencer Dinwittie (sp?) shot better and won the starting role. I was surprised he didn't last longer in the league. How? 6’9 who shoots 39% from 3 and can pass. He’s a typical NBA player in today’s age. Whitehead was not
Why, so a mediocre college player can make more than he did for many years as a pro?wish he would send us some NIL money
